I will miss you if they finally realize about you, Tumblr the website and app Twitter account. You shined bright, you magnificent being.
And some of you may not have heard this peak of human culture, but... just after Twitter purchase by Elon Musk got confirmed, a bunch of (serious) journalist put together a Twitter Space (a live audio streaming where any of the attendees can ask to participate) about what was going to happen next, and ... @tumblr joined. And... they invited tumblr to speak. I can't describe how much joy this moment brought me and how fucking proud made me of being part of our little entropy generator here:
canon Tumblr voice
tumblr literally firing cringe bullets into the crowd to keep the rent low
Firing 40mm's into the crowds to reduce traffic
TUMBLR REALLY SAID
why is “get ___ed idiot” one of the funniest sentences in the english language
get verbed idiot, the sequel to “ok nounboy”
in my experience nobody stops having a favorite animal when they grow up but people DO stop asking. well now i'm asking. what's everyone's favorite animal mine is the noble manatee

actually really warming up to the idea of never coming out explicitly. like i’ll just be. casually queer. if you ask i will tell you
for the love of god someone please sit naruto down and tell him you are worth something and you are worth being loved and cared for whether or not you help people or fix things your self worth does not depend on what you can give others its okay to be upset and angry for yourself and the things that have happened to you
like this child projects so hard and latches on to anyone who shows him even a hint of familiarity let alone kindness as if fixing other people and fixing everyone's problems makes him worth something and might make people like him, fucking, his obsession with saving sasuke stems from the fact that he copes by helping others,,, in his head if he brings sasuke back everything will go back to the way it was where kakashi and sakura and sasuke all actually liked him like hes clinging so desperately to the fact that people actually give a shit about him,, hes so fucking desperate for any ounce of sympathy or even just attention hes so protective of anyone who likes him because he grew up without that
hes so angry but its never!!! about!!!! himself!!!!!! someone please tell him its okay to be angry about his past its okay to hold people accountable for what happened to him its okay to feel those emotions for the love of god get this child some fucking therapy!!!!!
It really is wild how people who don't understand what consent is really do not understand what consent is. The idea that they're supposed to know how someone wants to be treated, and err to the side of caution or even ask if they aren't sure is absurd when you genuinely do not understand the concept.
"What, you need consent for everything these days?" Literally yes. And not just these days, but always have and always will.
"Do I need consent to kiss my wife in the morning? Do I need consent to shake someone's hand after a business meeting? Do I need CoNsEnT to braid my daughter's hair?"
Yes, yes and yes. A neurotypical person of reasonably passable social skill should have the ability to either instinctively understand when their touch is welcome, or logically conclude when their touch is socially expected. If you truly, literally, genuinely cannot tell whether your own child delights in you playing with her hair or merely endures it, then yeah, maybe you shouldn't touch anyone at all, ever, before you learn how to do that.
"Do I need consent to make eye contact with strangers on the street? Do I need consent from everyone on board before I get on the bus?"
Okay now you're just throwing a tantrum because someone told you 'no'.
Even those last two questions are hilarious because guess what - even if accidental, eye contact is mutual. If someone looks away, that is them no longer consenting to eye contact, and if you grab their head and force them to look into your eyes that would in fact be a violation of consent! Multiple, actually! And by riding a bus, you are in fact implictly consenting to ride with other people, who are doing the same with you, so you already HAVE their consent. In fact, if you are disruptive or violent, the bus driver can REVOKE consent by kicking you off and/or other passengers can revoke consent by disembarking.
So yes, in fact, everything involving other people requires their consent in some way, shape, or form. That's what forms social mores and folkways! This is the very basis of society! A mix of explicit and implicit consent.
So yeah, they're throwing a tantrum from being told no, and also ignoring sociology 101 while doing so.

The bill was drafted after Tuscon officers complained that bystanders were recording them too close. Critics say it violates the First Amend
Boost the hell out of this. Liking is good. Reblogging is better.
I think a lot of people understand why this is bad, but in case some don't let me explain.
The nation was horrified by the recording of George Floyd being murdered. But what if it had never been recorded? Would Derek Chauvin still be out? Would they have tossed the case due to insufficient evidence?
Look, the 2020 protests resulted in laws being passed to hold police accountable. Were they fully successful? No. Does more need to be done? Yes. But there was more being done than I've ever seen.
Now, in the space of a few months we have
The SCOTUS ruling prisoners don't have the right to an appeal.
The SCOTUS ruling that cops can't be sued for failing to Mirandize people.
The SCOTUS rule the government can charge nonIndigenous people for commiting crimes on tribal land, stripping Native Americans of tribal sovereignty.
And in Arizona, people can't record cops within 8 feet of an arrest.
This is not an accident or a coincidence. Conservatives are sending a message that no matter what cops do, they will back cops up. They are saying that they don't like cops being held accountable. These rulings should be taken as retaliation for any policy passed that protects BIPOC and hold police accountable.
For anybody who looks at this and goes “8 feet? That sounds reasonable, you might be getting in their way at that distance” Please follow this through to it’s logical consequence. Imagine You are filming a cop do something the cop doesn’t want filmed, one of his cop buddies now starts aggressively walking at you or telling you to come to him, now you are either: A) Fleeing from a cop or refusing to obey a command from a cop, a thing they can, *have*, and *will* kill over. B) Filming a cop from closer than 8 feet, which they can now arrest you over.
What the sneef? I'm snorfin' here!
Hey? You doin alright @ghost--bot ??
That person said rounding up and killing cats is inhumane but if it was talking about Rattlesnakes they'd probably be on board with killing the actual native species part of the ecosystem just because it's venomous and scary so all need to be destroyed, huh? - a snake lover
I hardly ever see anyone talk about the horrific cruelty of rattlesnake roundups. People only care about cute, fluffy animals :(
@is-the-snake-video-cute go off, my friend!
Oh, absolutely!
As someone who's been involved in snake conservation for my entire adult life, the single biggest obstacle we face is a lack of public interest. Rattlesnakes just aren't "cute" enough for people to care about them, and even when I'm talking about how horrific rattlesnake roundups are, one of the biggest responses I get is indifference.
Rattlesnake roundups are, put simply, festivals celebrating animal cruelty and the death and torture of rattlesnakes. They're disgusting, they're mindlessly cruel, and they only happen because rattlesnakes aren't cute enough to be seen as living, feeling animals, and they're treated like monsters because they're venomous snakes.
They're also simply not sustainable. Rattlesnake roundups kill snakes in such huge numbers that the kill counts are measured in pounds of snakes instead of individuals. They have been a huge factor in the recent consideration of listing eastern diamondbacks under the Endangered Species Act. Rattlesnake populations are well-controlled by predation, and they don't reproduce in enough numbers to sustain populations. Every year, noticeably less rattlesnakes can be caught for the festivals, and hunters resort to pouring gasoline into winter dens to chase out as many as possible, which obviously has a horrible effect on other native wildlife.
A few resources about rattlesnake roundups:
Here's a fact sheet from Advocates for Snake Preservation about roundups (this doesn't include graphic pictures, so it's great if you want to learn more but don't want to see images of the roundups)
Here's the website from ASP focused on roundup education - great information and links to current petitions to help stop roundups (TW for extreme animal cruelty)
Here's the Rattlesnake Conservancy's Save the Buzztails campaign - signing up for their newsletter is a great way to stay informed!
Snake conservation always suffers from a lack of donations, so if you're in the mood to donate to help stop roundups, ASP and the Rattlesnake Conservancy are both great options.
The only real way to stop rattlesnake roundups is to help educate people on how rattlesnakes are thinking, feeling, sensitive animals with lives that have value. Not everyone has to like snakes, but just like any other animal, they deserve to be treated with respect, and it sickens me to see rattlesnake roundups treat their lives as worthless and celebrate their deaths. I truly believe education is the way forward, so please - be vocal about the need to stop rattlesnake roundups!
they also might not be giants. let's not get our hopes up

She’s too good at this
Oh yeah didn’t SU have that episode where the black coded character was put in stasis because she wanted to kill the oppressive dictators and her reason for doing so (that being they’re oppressive dictators) was said to be wrong
The only part of bismuth that’s black coded is her hair and arguably her voice, a much more overtly black coded character is literally part of the main cast. There are also, you know, actual black characters in the show and one of the main writers is black.
Rose bubbling Bismuth was narratively treated as a horrible and cowardly act, Steven doing the same after Bismuth tried to KILL HIM when she thought he might actually secretly be Rose is not the same thing.
Bismuth was narratively treated as in the wrong for wanting to kill in retaliation was because she was willing to kill as many soldiers and bystanders as would get in her way, despite most of them having been established as being brainwashed and forced into their roles just as much as she was. She is the one who attempted to kill Lapis during the war, directly leading to her being imprisoned and used as a tool for thousands of years.
Bismuth’s anger towards her oppressors was shown as justified, but the main character is a 14yo pacifist whose main motivation is to fix things without anyone getting hurt which becomes a severely traumatic experience over time as he tries to prove to himself that there is good in everyone and help them become better people, because he wants to save everyone.
The point of Steven Universe is to explore how aspects of an oppressive society can harm every person within it to some degree, the main antagonists are also supposed to be analogous to an unhealthy and toxic family. The point of the ending is not that you should forgive family members who have harmed you, but that you can reach some level of understanding with them once you’re all out of that environment and have your own independence. The entire show was largely teaching children through example healthy ways to communicate your emotions to form healthy relationships. The average child is probably not going to be up against genocidal fascists, so that isn’t what the narrative is reflective of. Many children do however have issues with communicating concerns or boundaries with parents and peers.
Listen I’m all for killing fascists on sight but it’s a concept not really fitting in a show about love and acceptance.
To be honest the way “SU crit” people completely failed to understand Bismuth and her role in the story is perhaps one of the most striking examples of tumblr being rife with people in fandom spaces who have no critical analysis of fiction skills.
Who else remembers the accusations of the show being “lazy” because of infrequent animation errors or inconsistent scaling in later seasons? Guys the network was trying to quietly cancel the show for years, do you really think these artists had deadlines that were realistic? They had to fight for the right to show lesbian rocks holding hands every ten minutes do you think they had time to both make the animation sequences work and prevent scale inconsistencies?
When you hit crunch time you can cut down on story boarding time by not using character sheets as gospel/not correcting proportion errors on initial boards, or you can remove frames from the animation and lower the motion on the screen. The SU crew chose the former which is a good thing because we wouldn’t have a lot of the gorgeous scenes we ended up with in the last season otherwise.
