While men typically wear suits to attend special ceremonies in their hometown, women wear kimonos, very often in red, the color of celebration or festivals in Japan, along with a white, furry shawl, of synthetic fiber that keeps a person warm. Twenty is the minimum age for voting, drinking, and smoking in Japan. For women, it is also a fashion statement day!
