Boy, how my mind has thought about this.

To start off with my favorite theory, the one that won’t intentionally be toxic anyway, is that of a sort of “arranged marriage”. I can imagine both Eyeball and Aquamarine joining a homeworld rebellion, led by Jasper. If Jasper is still fusion-crazed, then I can see her arranging fusions between some gems. Eyeball at least would listen to her, and I don’t know much about the psychology of Aquamarine, so really maybe she’d be up for it, maybe not. 

I think this theory has to be my favorite because it covers some new ground not seen in the show - arranged marriages (or in this case, fusions). I feel like the fusion would be loveless and both are really just staying like that because authority said so.

Ideally, this situation ends up with both Aquamarine and Eyeball healthily recognizing that it isn’t working, it was never going to, they were just put together by someone else, and parting ways. 

However, it could easily not end up that way. This leads into another offshoot theory from the arranged fusion one. Eyeball seems to be pretty impressionable, she loves Jasper and seems to be blindly loyal, too. I can see Eyeball somehow picking up on the behavior Jasper did, and becoming almost fusion-crazed herself. I can definitely see her being all “Oh, this will make Jasper proud! I’ll be just like her!” while she forces Aquamarine to stay with her. I can see Aquamarine getting frustrated and sick of it and lashing out at Eyeball because of it.

This leads to pointing out the possible similarities between Jasper & Lapis and Eyeball & Aquamarine. Both include a blue gem with water wings in some sort of (probably negative) affiliation with a warm-colored, fiercely loyal, surly veteran gem with ties to Pink Diamond, and with the warm-colored gems having ties to one another as well.

But it could also go another way, I could also see Aquamarine being the one to sort of trick Eyeball into the fusion. Aquamarine seems to be smart, rubies tend to be sort of dunces and it seems like she’d know that. I imagine it’d be easy for her to be like “Jasper told me to fuse with you” or something and badda bing, badda boom. 

Honestly, I can personally only really see Eyeball & Aquamarine with a sort of co-worker relationship. I feel like they’d appreciate one another for their skills and abilities, but Aquamarine is kind of a little shit and I’d worry she’d end up hurting Eyeball, probably unintentionally. Aquamarine is sort of stuck up, sees herself highly. She could make teasing remarks to Eyeball and I feel like Eyeball, being a Ruby and being very serious, might take it as truth. For me, their personalities just clash too much for it to be really kind of a friendship/relationship, but instead to me it would make much more sense for them to have a business-like relationship (this could explain the suit!)
