If you woke up one morning with a stiff neck, you may think it’s because you slept in a weird position. The last option you’d consider would be depression. It is a fairly well known and often discussed disorder with the hallmark symptom being an intense and persistent feeling of despair. To put it simply, depression is extreme sadness yet it is so much more than that. In addition to its mental hindrances, a depressive episode may also manifest itself with a physical presence. While there are many physical symptoms, such as nausea and fatigue, the focus of this article will be about pain. Some people get headaches, others notice joint or muscular aches. People who suffer from any sort of chronic pain may notice their condition getting worse when they have a depressive episode.
