          ❛  i  think  my  place  might  be  a  little  more  roomy.  ❜  he’s  grinning!  nothing  cocky  about  it,  but  she  manages  to  bring  out  genuine  joy  in  him.  surprising.  he  kisses  her  quickly,  ❛  i  mean,  i  like  having  you  around  so  much  that  i  wouldn’t  mind  if  you,  say  —  moved  in.  ❜  the  statement  –  or  question  disguised  as  a  statement  –  makes  him  anxious  so  he  leans  in,  pressing  his  lips  against  hers  once  more.  ❛  i  mean,  my  pool  is  really  cool.  something  to  consider.  ❜

         ❛  well  since  you  called  me  handsome,  ❜  a  teasing  tone  matched  with  a  smirk.  she’s  cute.  he  was  hoping  she’d  stay  over  anyway.  ❛  you’re  always  welcome  to  stay  over.  ❜  

“  you’re handsome.  ”  oh  ,  wow  !  a big yawn  ,  she rubs her eyes.  “  can i stay over tonight  ?  is that cool  ?  if it’s not  -  this isn’t like  ,  a trick question  ,  or whatever.  ”

           he  quickly  shakes  his  head,  not  hesitating  for  a  moment.  ❛  no,  no,  absolutely  not.  ❜  he  likes  her  so  much!  if  he  says  that,  though,  it  might  seem  weird  after  so  long.  ❛  some  personal  shit  happened,  i  kinda  lost  my  shit,  but  it  was  in  no  way  because  of  you  or  in  regards  to  my  feelings  about  you.  ❜  he  doesn’t  want  to  try  and  make  it  seem  like  an  excuse,  but  she  deserves  some  sort  of  explanation.  ❛  i  wanna  just  —  i  don’t  know,  apologize.  i  like  you,  jup,  that  didn’t  change.  ❜

        he  gets  it.  maybe  not  in  exactly  the  same  way,  but  he  knows  what  it’s  like  to  not  be  understood  by  people  who  are  supposed  to  love  you.  ❛  i  mean  do  they  make  an  effort  to  try  to?  ‘cause  if  they’re  trying,  that’s  good,  but  if  not  that’s  messed  up.  ❜  he  gently  bites  down  on  his  lower  lip  before  continuing,  ❛  and  have  ya  tried  explaining  it  already?  might  be  a  dumb  question,  but  gotta  ask.  ❜
