LECTURE SERIES AND DEMO PLAY!

Undoubtedly, over the past few months, there has been an increase in crime and violence. The Philippines has a moderately high prevalence of crime, violence, and terrorism. The nation was one of the bottom five nations in the region in terms of order and security in 2021. In a similar vein, the Philippines had one of the highest rates of incarceration per 100,000 inhabitants. Poorer neighborhoods and places with larger people and unemployment have particularly high crime rates.

Our device, a Watch Alert, offers a solution to this. We have seen directly and heard secondhand from colleagues and family members how concerned people become when their jobs require them to leave for the day at such a late hour. Our solution offers features like these to make users and their contacts more comfortable, even if they are far away.

We attended a Lecture Series hosted at the University Convention Center on November 23rd, 2022, to assist us in achieving the objectives of our team for our product. Two special guests spoke at the lectures. Through those guest speakers, we learned more about business and technology-related topics. It also covered the numerous pointers and recommendations from the lecture series on starting a business. While developing an unique new idea, there are still many aspects that require in-depth research so that we can present the product and its features succinctly. So, as we continue to investigate our product innovation, listening to the first guest speaker has helped us obtain new insights and ideas.

Our Pitching Day was the following day. In order to determine where we can improve and what to add to our product, we conducted market validation during the planning stage. Surprisingly, people praised it and even offered some constructive critique. Fast forward to the day before the pitching, when my team produced a promotional film to help us convey a general understanding of the benefits of our product and the issues it addresses. We were relieved that our product might be profitable even though there were still flaws and opportunities for improvement because it had been approved by some of our target markets.

The entire process of carrying out this activity assisted us in realizing the requirements of our potential target market. Making plans to innovate a product and running surveys to see if the product will somehow succeed in reaching our target market The fact that we conducted the interviews off-campus helped us realize that there are still a lot of market problems, needs, and wants that we must address with innovative solutions.

Respondents' responses were timely, pertinent, and fascinating based on the interviews I conducted. My first responder was a pair; they said that it's great that the idea has been thought of and that, as a couple, the device will make it easier for them to know that their partner is secure even if they are apart. The next two respondents were both mothers and parents. They expressed similar feelings about the product and how it will help them feel secure even when they are apart from their kids. However, one of the mothers said that despite her willingness to buy the product, her decision will still be influenced by the price since most smartwatches are typically expensive on the market. Another respondent was a student who said that she sometimes leaves for home late at night because homework might take up a lot of her time. She said the product was timely and inventive, and she concluded by saying she would be willing to buy it.

I have put my hypothesis to these significant respondents to the test with the help of the responses. Inquiring about their willingness to invest in and buy a safety watch that will enable their contacts to find and track them anytime they are in danger or even when they are running late for home. Surprisingly, the respondents indicated a willingness to buy the suggested product. They claimed to be willing to spend money on anything that will improve their well-being and safety. Some respondents ignored the cost because they believed the product would be worthwhile, while others were hesitant because it might be expensive.

The product Watch Alert has been pitched along with our promotional film as a last requirement to give them a sense of the product. Even though the idea still had flaws, we are optimistic that one day someone will try to invest and materialize the product, it will reach the target market and would benefit many people with its price.

In summation, the respondents' responses were timely, pertinent, and fascinating based on the interviews I conducted. One of the respondents' typical problems is transportation. In her response, she mentioned the cost of transportation as well as how difficult it is to find a car that will take her where she needs to go. The second response mentioned the lack of access to transportation when the clock strikes midnight. Naturally, Valencia City's normally busy highways become empty and deserted at that time, making it impossible for people who commute to get home safelyAnother respondent mentioned how difficult it is for him to locate the things he needs in our city because most, if not always, all of the stores carry them. He noted that it has become difficult for him to find the products he needs. In keeping with our current number one issue, the state of the economy and the depreciating value of our currency, two respondents specifically mentioned their worries about money. Many of them struggle with budgeting and finding ways to increase their income. Finally, the majority of the people we spoke with said that the lack of safety security was the main issue they encountered. Many folks, especially the ladies I spoke with, have been alarmed by the rising crime rates in the neighborhood. Their ability to move about the city and their productivity have both been impacted by access to

Team’s Decision: After discussing with our team and sharing answers from our different respondents, our team had led to a decision to propose a Watch Alert product venture. This proposal addresses the most common problem of our respondents which is their safety.

Team’s Discussion: After conducting the interviews, our team opened and suggested different product venture. And since majority of our respondents stressed their problems in Safety, we started to discuss an innovative idea of having a safety watch alert. We have considered its features, product benefits, and its cost.

While taking a break from my classes, I tried to interview a few students while I went around the campus. The majority of them are in my year level and were on campus for the first time as well as face-to-face classes. I simply questioned each student about my hypothesis, which was the issues that campuses confront while holding in-person classes.

Each student I questioned during my interview provided me with a different set of answers. One interviewee complained about having trouble finding accessible food booths or canteens because the main campus is far from the market. Another respondent listed "signal" as one of her issues, saying that since most of us take blended programs, she has a difficult time finding a place with a good signal so she can attend her remaining online sessions. One respondent said that there weren't enough benches or places to hang out with friends or unwind; she said it was exhausting to go across a large campus and it was difficult to find a bench since either it was packed of people or there weren't any open seats at all. Another respondent's issue is that she has difficulty budgeting her allowance because she spends practically the entire day in school and because transportation costs and product prices have increased significantly since face-to-face lessons began. The remaining interviewees stated that transportation on campus is their greatest issue, whether it be due to the cost, the distance between buildings, or the fact that it consumes the majority of their important time. I spoke with eight students in all, who were both enjoying and having trouble with the introduction of face-to-face classes. 

Team’s Decision:

After conducted an interview with our respondent, we team decided to share what we gathered about the problem of our respondent. Our team decided to suggest a Bike Rentals venture after deliberating with one another and sharing the responses from our various respondents. The most frequent issue raised by our responders, which is transportation, is addressed in this plan.

Team’s Discussion:

Our team debated many ideas during the group meeting. Additional benches, bike rentals, signal boosters, air conditioning/electric fans inside the classrooms, trashcans, direction signage, and canteens were some of these alternatives.

Lessons Learned:

The entire process of carrying out this activity assisted us in realizing the requirements of our potential target market. The next step is to properly assess and design the business through research and feasibility studies. Consider new, more profitable company opportunities. Even while not all proposals will be accepted right away, their efforts will undoubtedly aid us in future business venture decision-making.
