Grandfather clocks are such stately beauties. When I was little, I always knew I was in a classy house when I saw a grandfather clock there. The solemn ringing announcing the passing of each hour bestowed a certain status upon the house in my youthful eyes. There's more to class than clocks of course, but I had low standards as a child. 😅 This beauty dates from 1820-1830. It needs a daily wind if you're into hourly chiming and one every three days if you prefer silence. It has a lovely face with the gentle touch of age that gives it the grace of a kind old friend. It's not often that we see these! Lamps galore, lamps with wall brackets sometimes, lamps with wall brackets and reflectors even less... a lamp with a wall bracket and an intact mercury glass reflector? Well I never! The cast iron bracket alone is stunning, but I can only imagine the warm glow that would be cast when this is lit. It's amazing to think what nurses through history have had to endure. They did harrowing work in uniforms that had to strictly adhere to the societal views of women in that day.
