First of all, I'd like to say that I'm sorry for disappearing without prior notice. I've been through one of the hardest times of my life. Since November I've been falling into a hole. As many of you already know, I've been suffering from depression since a very young age and it seems like in May I hit rock bottom. I also stopped talking to my most close friends and family. I wasn't able to see the light and I used to have very bad thoughts.
Almost two months ago I started to cry for no reason in front of my mother, who was really worried because she wasn't aware of what was really happening inside my mind. I went to a therapist and I got meds to help me with my situation. Of course, they didn't help so I had to do the hugest effort I've ever done and I talked with my parents about what was going on. We were talking for almost five hours non-stop, and they thought they could try to pay a private therapist even if it's very expensive, but I knew that talking about my struggles with life wouldn't help at all. My mother remembered how happy I used to be when I used to go to the gym, so she paid for membership during the last month to see if it works.
And it's working. Going to the gym, having a routine, and working on discipline have helped me more than anything. Now I have a sleeping schedule, I'm socializing again and I've made new friends. Arya has helped me too, of course, more than I can explain.
Now, I'm feeling better than ever before and I can't even believe it sometimes.
That's the reason why I disappeared from everybody's life, and I'm really sorry for my friends here and any person who has messaged me worried about my situation and about why I wasn't here. I'm grateful for every one of you from the bottom of my heart. You can't imagine how much.
Once I said that I'm ready to be back here. To try to write something and to interact with all of you. Even so, in case I disappear again ( because of work ) you can follow me on Instagram ( @mariaxmtnz ) and message me there.

Your hands are still trembling after hanging up the call. You can't believe he's dead. Danny was your partner for more than five years. You've been together in Japan, Italy, England, France and a lot of other countries around the world hunting big rats. And now, he's dead. Someone hunted him as if he was another of those rats. When you met Benny, you promised to leave that life away. You started from scratch. Three years have passed and you're a new woman with a recognized job forming soldier for the army, working toe-to-toe with your brother-in-law. But you need to avenge him. There's no one else who can do this job more than you.
With fresh tears on your cheeks and your crystal eyes, you have to focus to grab a backpack and keep inside all your equipment. Flak jacket, night vision goggles, camouflage clothes, daggers, and your inseparable gun. A golden Colt with ornaments around the barrel. A gift from Danny when you promoted and Mister Diare put you by his side. These bullets will be the ones who kill that motherfucker. You have all the information you need. His social circle, the places he runs, the location of his house, even the kindergarten where his four-year-old little girl assists.
You are too concentrated picking up your stuff that you haven't heard the door of your garage being opened, nor the feet coming closer towards you. But as soon as you feel a hand on your arm, you turn at the speed of the lights with your gun at the height of your eyes. Ben takes a step back with both hands raised, trying to keep calm. He looks confused, traveling his blue orbs to the bag behind you and its content.
âWhat are you doin'?â Your boyfriend asks in a breathing, watching you pull down the weapon.
âI have to goâ. You just reply, leaving the gun over the table to continue with your task.
âTo where? Everything okay? Why are you crying?â
This is just the start of an interrogatory, where he asks but you don't reply. He notices the lack of air coming to your lungs, needing to stop you somehow. He has seen you waking up from nightmares âsweating, anxious, panickingâ, but this is different. This is far away from being one of those daydreams he has had sometimes, forgetting for a moment he is at home. Safe and sound from war. Benny doesn't doubt wrapping your middle back and your chest with both of his arms. You are strong, but he is stronger. His strength is what pays half of the bills. The surprise invades him when you don't fight against his tight embrace. You just fall into pieces, quietly, sobbing, closing your eyelids but letting the tears fall down your burning cheeks.
â(Y/N), it's okay⌠Please, breatheâ. Benny whispers into your left ear, placing after a kiss on your temple. âTalk to me⌠tell me what's going on. Lemme help you, please, babyâ.
You can't. You want to tell him about your partner. But, how he'd react to knowing his fiancĂŠ was a mercenary? It's not something that pops up while you're making breakfast, saying do you know I used to kill people without caring shit about them just for money? You don't want him to hate you. And yes, you could simply say that someone close has died and you have to attend the funeral, but he'd insist on coming with you. Be your anchor.
âI can'tâ. You whisper in tears, pushing him away to pack your stuff left before wearing your jacket.
You pass him away, straight to outdoors to step in your car and leave your home. Leave your present life for a man who saved you from the past one. A man who treated you like his daughter, like the most precious thing of his existence. Stretching your hand to your SUV to unlock it with the control remote, you stop dead. Will is there. By his sides, Frankie, Santi, and Tom. They are all wearing black clothes, military boots, and serious gestures on their faces. Backpacks at their feet. You haven't noticed your boyfriend, looking just like them, until he reaches you outside.
Turning at him, disconcerted as hell while cleaning your tears, you are trying to figure out what they're doing on your porch. Ready for whatever.
âI knowâ. He just says before taking a place by his brother's left.
âWhen you appeared in our lives, I investigated youâ. Santiago confesses, making your heart stop for a second. âYou came from nowhere, with really⌠good skills and that pretty innocent face. Something was offâ.
âThis morning I received a call. Daniel Romson was killed last night in Texas. Payback, they called itâ. Will speaks then, taking a step closer towards you, letting them talk without interrupting. âAnd now, you want your own revengeâ.

âYeah, we doâ. Frankie utters crossing his arms on his chest, behind his friend.
âWe all have been in a war, isn't that right?â Tom assures, raising his chest in a brief move.

It just has happened a couple of times, her babysitter has decided to cancel her shift at the last minute and you have to work. But your boss is glad to spend some time with your daughter since she really loves her and always has a good time together.

You were playing it cool knowing your daughter was in good hands. Nothing could happen to her being with Hank. Until you receive a call through the radio, asking your patrol to come back immediately to the District. The officer doesn't say anything else and your mind starts to play dirty with you. You can't help but imagine one hundred situations where your baby girl gets hurt somehow. Inevitable for any cop surrounding her.
You stomp into the station like a bat out of hell, looking everywhere trying to find Alice sitting there. Safe and sound. But Platt intercepts you before you can open your mouth. She points with her forefinger upstairs, straight to Intelligence. Not even a minute after you're already at their offices. Emptied, except for Sergeant Miller sat in Voight's chair with a sour gesture on her face. Coming into the office, before leaving Alice on Kevin's desk painting some kind of magic animal, you take a seat in front of your supreme boss.

You bow your head down, aware there are no excuses to make her understand what has happened. A woman like her would never understand.
âI'm sorryâ. You whisper, tangling your hands over your lap, not being able to look at her.
âThis is a District. A police station. What kind of mother leaves her child accessible to killers, rapistââ.

You suddenly raise your head, turning to the door following the rough husky voice speaking in your defense. Voight is there, jaw clenched, arms behind his back.

The woman puckers her lips with a soft nod of her chin, before standing up to glance at you as she leaves the office. Now, you can breathe. As soon as the metallic fence is closed again, you jump out of your seat to hug him. You don't think that. You just act. Hank needs to take a second to react, placing his arms around your waist to bring you closer against his chest. You can't imagine how many times he has fantasized about having you just like that. As if anything else matters around you. And it feels really pleasant the lack of distance between your bodies.
âThank youâ. You whisper with such a honeyed tone, really grateful for defending you.

Assenting, Hank tours a side of your neck with his long fingers to reach your warm cheek. And commending his soul to God, he leans forward enough to caress your lips with his. An ephemeral touch enough to race your heart, snapping down your eyelids. The sergeant only kisses you when he's sure you're not going to stop him, fitting his mouth to yours uttering a soft gasp of pure relief while you nail your fingers on the back of his neck to push him more, and more close.
He's always been the one for you, and now, Hank doesn't have any doubts.
