One of my parents works for a packaging design company and anecdotally, this exact same thing happened in their company. My parent did a rough design for a package and a coworker tasked with finalizing the design just ran it through ai and called it a day.

I guess my point is it feels like negligence more than anything else.

Hollyleaf should have been the sibling in the dark forest. The code is everything. She wants to protect it, right? Mapleshade tells Holly about the dangers of half clan relationships. And when Holly becomes a warrior, she learns that she’s half clan.

Mapleshade lets her vent, stoking her anger. It’s not her fault that her parents were code-breakers, but it is up to her to make it right. And Hollyleaf wants to make it right, doesn’t she?

Imagine if we ever get a reverse Tribecats plot, where it’s The Tribe saving The Clans using their (The Tribe’s) way of life.

Tho I wonder what would happen if a non clan cat were to be targeted by The Darkforest & why they never considered it. Like, The Tribes, WarriorClan & any Kittypet, rogue or loner would have no experience with The Darkforest & would sure be easier to manipulate. It’s stupid, but still.

In another life, that could have been Sol perhaps.

Like, imagine a Stoneteller in training who wants to return The Tribe to its former glory & separate itself from the clans. Only to receive a prophecy that forces The Tribe & The Clans to be closer than ever.

A kittypet who is forced into an extremely important role in the fate of The Clans, despite them not wanting it.

Or a rogue who decides to create their own clan.

For me? I’d rewrite Warrior’s Return.

The biggest change I would make is getting rid of Graystripe’s weird outta nowhere xenophobia. He could still lash out & be short-tempered here, but instead it’s from a lack of certainty that The Clans are still around & his very real fear that he’ll never find his friends or home ever again. I’d also get rid of the weird love triangle shit between him, Millie & Diesel.

1. River should probably be limited to Frostpaw’s pov (similar to the first book of avos) so we have time to really flesh out the cast of riverclan for later. A murder mystery doesn’t work if we don’t know any of the suspects.

2. There should be more well rounded red herrings. Have a sect of cats involved in Berryhearts stuff, but not necessarily the murder. Follow up on that Lightleap thing 😭

3. Give Nightheart something better to do in the early books. I’m thinking of potentially making him a friend to Frostpaw early on, maybe even as a fellow apprentice? He could be a bit of a bad influence on her, but with his heart in the right place. It’d give her someone she can trust / some support system but it’s imperfect due to the distance. (It would also give Nightheart some doubts about staying in Thunderclan we can use later)

4. The eventual leader of Riverclan could be any of the popular options (although I’m partial to Froststar) but it has to be set up properly. Icewing would need to be a central character who has more than one or two interactions with Frostpaw lol. I even like the idea of Icewing and Duskfur being part of another faction of Riverclan who does want change, but genuinely. I like the idea of curlfeather losing herself when going too far for her cause, but the correct choice was still the people who wanted change.

5. There are so many complicated mothers in this arc but they don’t really come to a conclusion about it. It would be nice to flesh out Sunbeam and Frostpaw’s bond, potentially through that shared trauma? I would love to see Berryheart and Curlfeather interact as well.

6. I don’t mind NightSun I just want them to be a little more fleshed out, and tied in to the plot starting earlier. Honestly there’s a lot of build up for Nightheart being very against Berryheart’s ideology that doesn’t get explored as much as it could in the arc. I’d like for it to have more weight than “woah Sunbeam your mom’s pretty crazy haha.”

7. There’s a lot to say about splashtail, but my biggest thing with him is that the books do a lot of telling and very little showing. I’m not sure how to exactly tackle him.

Okay anyways I will stop writing fanfiction in your askbox! Just wanted to throw some ideas at the wall and see what you think!

Hard agree on points 1-6, those are such good ideas than would benefit the arc, and particularly the RiverClan plot, tremdously

Imagine an SE where the overarching bridge is the three in the dark forest in a time before any memories faded talking about their origins. So in one book we get three stories with some intermittent chapters in-between where the others comment on the story that has just been told or is being told
