Another great post fromĀ 24/7 MOMSĀ about why#creativitymatters!Ā "Today, I want to talk about how to keep up with your childās āart sparkā. From what Iāve learned, raising my kids, is that, while it seems at certain ages theyāve lost thatĀ art spark, as they grow older itās not that their creativity begins to dissipate, but that their creativity begins to enter into new realms..."
"If you follow the blog or spend any time with me, this statement should not come as a surprise, #creativitymatters. Ā I am a strong believer in fostering creativity and encouraging your inner artist, so when the opportunity arose to partner as an affiliate with Everyartist.me to promote creativity and encourage children to participate in art, I could not pass it up!"Ā
"Certainly our students need to learn math, science, and all of these other things. However, I would argue if each of us has things that we are made to do and those things are pulled from us, then we will pull away from the thing that pulls us away from what we love. Kids are creative and they need it in the classroom."
24/7 Moms just posted this amazing article on Sibling Bonding Through Art as a part of our #CreativityMatters campaign. Such a great story! Join the conversation by tagging your posts and support the cause by signing up to participate in Everyartist Live!

This is the power of a great educator or mentor: The legendary Milton Glaser ā creator of the iconic Iā„NY logo,Ā co-founder ofĀ New York Magazine, considered by many the greatest graphic designer alive ā tells this stirring story of āhow twenty seconds can change your lifeā:Ā
When I was in junior high school, I had the opportunity to take the entrance examination to either Bronx Science, which is a great New York school, or the High School of Music and Art, another great school. ⦠And I had a science teacher who was very encouraging for me to enter into science ā I was very good at science ā and he wanted me to go to Bronx Science. And I was evasive about that, because I didnāt want to tell him that it aināt gonna happen.
But the day of the entrance exam ā they occurred on the same day ā I took the entrance examination to the High School of Music and Art. And the next day I came into school, he was in the hallway as I was walking down, and he said, āI want to talk to you.ā I said, āUh-oh ā the jig is up, heās going to find out I took the āwrongā exam.ā He said, āCome to my office⦠Sit down.ā And, as I was sitting there, he said, āI hear you took the exam for Music and Art.ā And I said, āUm, yes.ā And then he reached over, and he reached into his desk, and he pulled out a box of French ContĆ© crayons ā a fancy, expensive box ā and he gave it to me, and he said, āDo good work.ā
I canāt tell that story without crying, because it was such a profound example of somebody ā an adult, authority figure, sophisticated man ā who was willing to put aside his own desire for something, his own direction for my life, and recognize me as a person who had made a decision. And he was, instead of simply acknowledging it, encouraging it with this incredibly gracious and generous gift. ⦠The thing about it that always astonishes you is that moment ā it couldnāt have taken more than two minutes ā was totally transformative about my view of life, my view of others, my view of education, my view of acknowledging the other.
Send this to every educator or mentor you know, and think of what would be possible if we were all capable of such self-transcendence for the sake of elevating anotherās potential.Ā
Watch the interview, superb in its entirety, here.
