Halcyon hardly noticed that he was (seemingly) looming over another student in his search. He was actually nearly surprised to be snapped into attention. He young Scot pasted on a smile. “’M looking for a pygmy puff,” he explained before letting his eyes roam the area again. “A third year ‘s crying ‘bout losing one.”

Looking up, Everleigh furrowed her eyebrows as she listened to him. “Reason why people need to keep those safe or at home; I swear these third years lose everything. I haven’t seen one running around. Need some help looking? I can’t look at this book anymore without falling asleep anyway.”  

“Thanks. I swear the library’s been more crowded lately. I can’t ever seem to find a place to sit.”

“You’re welcome. I agree with you there. This place used to be nice and quiet and it’s gotten worse with all the people here now. Well I don’t mind, I’m not as bad as people like to think. Working on anything interesting?” 

“I bet I could handle anything you throw at me,” he mused, his smirk echoing hers. James chuckled, his head tipping back for a moment. “For fucks sake, Nott. Are you really that diabolical?” He grinned, “Only if you win, I’ll do it.”

“Debatable. I have my ways that will take that precious smirk off your face,” Everleigh shook her head before crossing her arms. “Honestly? Probably. I mean it’s in my blood somewhere, which is why you should just do your essay.” Everleigh shrugged, “Which I will win.” 

“You’re right about that, but, unfortunately, it’s the closet thing we’ve got to any kind of fun.”

“That’s the truth. Hey, I’m all for a little adventure. See what this place is like after dark because I’m sure here are some secrets that no one knows about.” 

“Hey,” he said, though it came out as a whine. “I could handle being beaten by a girl. I love feminism.” He tilted his head to the side, considering her question. “Well, I would just trust that you would honor our bet. Like if you won and you wanted me to paint your nails or something. I might be awful at it, but I’d do it.”

Everleigh rolled her eyes when she heard the whine in his voice. “Mmhmm, whatever you say, Potter. You’re the one that’ll have to do whatever I tell you and honestly you don’t want to hear what I would cook up,” she smirked. “Would I though? You trust me that much that I wouldn’t butcher the entire essay and curse the paper so that you get detention? Oooo now I really want to see you try and paint my nails.” 

“It’s not sneaking out if we don’t get caught. Haven’t you wanted to see if there’s any nightlife in Hogsmeade?”

“I’ve wanted to, but I just never thought Hogsmeade would be a place where people go to party at night.” 

“How about this,” James said, a playful smirk on his lips. “Let’s play a friendly game of Quidditch. It can just be a seeker’s match. If I win, you do my potion’s essay and if you win, I’ll owe you a favor. What do you say, hm?”

“I don’t think so. Your ego might not handle being beat by a girl. And how do you know I wouldn’t sabotage your essay to make sure you get a failing grade?” she said mimicking the look on his face. 

“I”m just looking for a place to sit,” Maggie said. “I guess this table is taken then…”

“Oh...sorry. It’s not taken, you can sit. I promise I won’t bite,” she gave her a small smile. 

     Ximena didn’t appreciate the attitude. Especially considering that this was the library and not a personal space. Ximena could roam and stand wherever it was she wanted if she so pleased. She glanced back at her as she was looking over a book on one of the shelves. “No?” She asked with the same tone. “Didn’t know we had a new librarian.” 

scorpius cursed under his breath as his eyes roved the shelves in front of him for what felt like the hundredth time, and there was still no book. dejected, he went to make his way back to his seat when a familiar title caught his eye. he made his way over to the table it was sat on, trying to peep if it was being used when a voice made him jump. “ OH ! i was just wondering if you were using that book ? ” 

Everleigh looked up and smirked when she noticed Scorpius jump. “All you. I look at it any more I will lose my mind,” she shrugged with a small chuckle before closing the book and handing it over to him. “What brings little Scorpius Malfoy into the library today anyway?” 

“Gonna get a dress…Gonna go dancing…Gonna live my best life” Ariellé sang away to herself and danced her way towards the main doors of the castle.

“Someone’s excited,” Everleigh muttered as she walked. “You know you might want to save that energy before it goes away,” she said turning towards her as she started to walk backwards a little. 

“Everyone seems to be so worried about dates to this thing, when everybody is probably going to get drunk anyway.” She laughed. 

“What happened to going to these things single? You have a point, are any of them really going to end up with the same person at the end of the night...probably not.” 

“Hey sorry to disturb you but you wouldn’t mind like moving just a tiny bit to the left. Kind of in the middle of sketching and I really don’t want to lose the lighting I have.” Elara said as she was sketching out the view of school grounds. She can see why many students came to Hogwarts, it is beautiful.

Everleigh looked up at the girl and moved over a little. Furrowing her eyebrows a little, she looked at the drawing and nodded. “So you sketch? I didn’t think people did that kind of thing anymore.”
