Self-love is the greatest comeback

Sometimes being on a different frequency from someone means no matter what you’re saying, that person just can’t hear you.

“Be happy for no reason, like a child. If you are happy for a reason, you’re in trouble, because that reason can be taken from you.”

People say the homeless only spend their money on drugs or alcohol as if the rest of us are doing anything different to cope.

Life has a way of catching up with us. just be good and do good. You can’t cheat nature.

It’s a tragedy to watch someone fall in love with something they settled on.

“Maybe if I’d fucked you more and loved you less I could have left this battlefield wearing just bruises and teeth, but I’m sure that even the cavalry knows that there’s a crack in my heart and it’s been leaking your name ever since we stopped fighting this fight. What I’m trying to say is: you win. It’s all yours. I’m tired and I tried. I’m tired and I love you. I’m tired and I didn’t mean to.”

Sometimes when you were hurting, all you wanted was for someone to come and hold you until you stopped shaking. And all too often, no one would come. And so, you learned to hold yourself. And so, you learned to find sanctuary within your own mind. And so, like this, you learned to survive.

I wanted to ask him: Did he think about me? Ever? Often? At all?  And if he did, what did he think about? Was it my laugh? Or how I fidgeted when I was nervous? Was it my voice? Or my mouth, or my favourite song? Did he think about the way that I argued? The way that I closed up? And how, after it all, I always opened myself to him again? Did he think about the ways that I annoyed him? Like when I was proud and stubborn and cold? Did he wish that I would be different? Or did he shake his head and let it rest?  I wanted to ask did he think about me? Because I thought about him. Frequently. Constantly. Because I thought about him more than he’d ever know.
