Alternate Universe Event

We're doing something new - we have heard your feedback from our last survey that an Alternate Universe event would be interesting, so now it's happening! We hope that a lot of you will take this opportunity to try something new, do something untraditional with your characters and, of course, have tons of fun doing it! We found it fitting to post this in the month of April's Fools Day because as everyone knows (or should know by now), no news, updates or advertisements are as it says it is on April's Fools Day.

Here is how the event will work:

Below, you will find a list of prompts that we, the admin team, came up with. This is not a list you must pick from, but it has a few ideas to get the ideas flowing!

Pick a prompt from the list and either post an open thread or create one and tag your writing partner in it!

Each prompt can be picked by several people, although we would like to advise you that if someone already used a prompt and this is an open thread - why not take that instead of starting a new one?

Once you have picked a prompt and posted an open thread in the AU forum, please submit the form below to let people know what prompt is used and give them a short runover of what is happening in the thread specifically to make it easier to jump in to!

The event itself will run from April 1st until April 31st. Threads will stay in the AU forum, but this thread will be moved to the archives on the 1st of May. Feel free to post your remaining open AU threads in the #open-threads channel on discord.

I’ve been running my granny’s old magic shop for witches and other spellcasters for a while now and I refuse to let this complete asshole who just opened their new fancy shop put me out of business

a mermaid and a vampire are both human-passing and believe each other are human and both jump through hoops to avoid each other finding out what the other is and they just started dating

"I haven’t decided if I’m actually going to kill you yet but first, either way, what did you DO to piss off the Canadians so badly." Assassins AU where one is the assassin hired by the Canadian government and the other pissed off the Canadians.

“So you may be a Prince and all but you just insulted my family and I am going to be forced to fuck you up” Where one is the Prince who did the offending and the other is the insulted party.

“i only realized i was in love with you after you died and like 3 yrs later you come back as an angel" Where one is the person who died and is now an angel and the other has to deal with the fact that there are angels.

“i’m paranoid as hell and i think my house is haunted so i called over a paranormal investigator and it looks like my house really is haunted and its serious” Where one plays the paranormal investigator and the other the paranoid caller.

There’s a rumble in the distance and suddenly the sky looks like it’s snowing but it isn’t snow. It’s ash. A volcano has erupted and our muses are within the fallout zone.

Your characters go to Hogwarts and your teams are playing against each other in Quidditch and you're having an argument about who will win.

We live in a world where the Greek gods are real and you went and got yourself cursed and now I have to go on a quest to sort this shit out why am I friends with you again?

“It’s my birthday and you and I are good friends who have been dancing around the fringes of major crushes on each other for a while now but you give me a cupcake/cake/ice cream with a candle in it and tell me to make a wish. I don’t really believe in wishes on birthday candles so I jokingly, silently wish to marry you. When I wake up the next morning, you and I are sharing a bed wearing wedding rings and obviously a little older and what the ever-lovin’ heck is going on?!”

You wake up one morning with super powers and decide to rob a bank to overcome your financial trouble. But, someone else also woke up with super powers that morning and they'll give it their all to stop you. Too bad that you're both newbies at this..

Easter Egg Hunt

Easter is one of those lovely family holidays which gives you yet another excuse to meet up with your family and have some fun games. Kids especially love this holiday because it typically involves candy, hunting for and decorating eggs and even though it has something to do with religion, it isn't pushed on them during this holiday as they decorate with cute baby chicken decorations and loads of flowers. This year, the Church has organised an egg hunt which they said would be more challenging than ever before and of course, the kid who gets the most eggs wins a super sweet prize! So meet up with your family, bring your best Easter baskets and go hunt those festively coloured eggs.

The event takes place on Sunday, April 4th.

The event itself will run from April 1st until April 30th. After this date, all threads which are still in progress will be moved to the past forum.

Welcome to Euphoria Cove, a lazy beach town just off California’s scenic Highway 1. Surrounded by cliffs, redwoods, and fields of brilliantly purple lupine flowers, serene beaches and a bustling harbor complete the postcard-perfect seaside town (so be sure to pick one up when you’re visiting). Set in the Big Sur area and located just three hours south of San Francisco, residents and tourists alike get to enjoy all of the charms of small, family-run businesses as Euphoria Cove so far remains untouched by large chain stores and big corporations. This doesn’t mean there’s nowhere local to get coffee and do a bit of shopping, but if the residents want to hit up Target or grab a drink at Starbucks, they will have to make the 45 minute drive north to Monterey or the two hour drive north to San Jose. We are a no word count, small town site with relaxed activity requirements, set in the fictional town of Euphoria Cove, California. Grab a surfboard or pull up a beach chair, and enjoy a little slice of utopia with us for a while.

Picket Basket Auction - February Event #2

The Church has organised another year of Valentine's day auctions. While the concept sometimes changes, the Church of Euphoria Cove always put together an auction for this time of year to bring lovers together and to allow fate to do its thing, pushing kindred hearts together and spreading romance and love throughout the community. Proceeds of the picnic basket auction will go to maintaining the old church.

This year's theme is a picnic basket auction. The idea is that people prepare and submit beautiful baskets leaving only a note on the outside about its contents. Each basket will then take turns to get auctioned off to the highest bidder. The highest bidder wins a romantic lunch with the person who made the basket, typically in the open, if the weather allows for it.

The event takes place on Sunday, February 14th at 11:30

Valentine’s Day Charity Masquerade - February Event #1

Masquerades are always a lovers' favourite. You get to dress up, you get to feel mysterious and there is nothing quite like daring your significant other to pick you out of the crowd while you're wearing some gorgeous mask. Whether you are going alone or with friends or partners, this is a must attend event. It is only even better that it is for a good cause as all proceeds including the entrance ticket and drinks at the event will be donated to Euphoria Cove's very own Fire Department. It's just another great excuse to go!

The event is 21+, but teens have been known to sneak in. It is not exactly a hard thing to do when you're wearing a mask to hide your face and age. The event is held at Town Hall in Driftwood Harbor. Finger food is for free and provided by the Siren. Tables and chairs will be littered throughout the location, but the centre provides enough space for dancing and mingling. All in all, it'll be a night to remember for this year's valentine's day!

The event takes place on Sunday, 14th of February at 06:00 PM.

Location Spotlight - La Família

This band was originally started by Bray's bff XX (name is open as the character is open, preferably male though!) and they had been playing since they were quite young, probably around 16 and then a couple of years ago, Bray's bff convinced Bray to overcome his stage fright and join the band. I imagine that some of them go to school, maybe they don't want to go all the way on the band thing, but they all love it and enjoy doing gigs around town or the area. They have played at many birthday parties, private parties, but also at some venues and events around the area, sometimes even in Montery and their dream is current San Francisco. I am open for everyone to be singers to some extent, but everyone would have to play an instrument as I don't want someone to be the main singer or anything. They all play to their strengths in terms of instruments, genre, whatever. My only demand is that they are all very cool and good friends and have been part of the band for at least a few years.

In terms of sound, they are a pop/rock band similar to 5 seconds of summer. They do covers, but they also write their originals songs and work them into the mix.

they played at the town summer concerts as well as at the valentine's day masquerade charity ball

They are currently looking for a weekly gig in Monterey
