A rectifier is an electrical device that converts alternating current (AC), which periodically reverses direction, to direct current (DC), which flows in only one direction. The process is known as rectification. Rectifiers have many uses, but are often found serving as components of DC power supplies and high-voltage direct current power transmission systems.

Physically, rectifiers take a number of forms. Today we talk about Bridge Rectifier Module. As its name, it consists of several basic elements, and its circuit looks like bridge. The most common basic element is diode and thyristor.

Rectifier circuits may be single-phase or three phase. Most low power rectifiers for domestic equipment are single-phase, but three-phase rectification is very important for industrial applications.
