 He had only listened to what his parents had told him and made him do all his life, and this particular time in his age it was about the importance of tying a union with the infamous family. He was told that anyone in his house could be in grave danger if the Lannisters aren’t being given what they want, and only a political union can save any inconvenience in their part. This entire commitment thing was too new to him, and while his betrothed is in fact very attractive, god-like and above all a brave crown prince known for his swordsmanship (or so he heard), Jongin still wasn’t sure if Sehun is the one. The prince had done nothing that he disliked so far, only treated him with respect and kindness when he arrived from Dorne with his father, brother and the rest of the royal escorts. His people doubted that this Lannister would be fit enough for him when they first saw the male as he gives off a typical Lannister man’s vibe, brooding charismatic aura with a tinge of arrogant-like confidence and the signature blond, but nobody could tell just yet from one’s appearance. And while Jongin had never been in love or knew what it feels to be loved, feeling far too foreign about the idea of tying the knot with anyone and even more so a stranger - he expects that a spouse can at least be reliable. At this moment, all he has is the benefit of the doubt.

So this was the beginning of how Prince Jongin, being himself -- the youngest male heir in House Martell, one too afraid to refuse nor say a simple “no” and escape responsibility could only obey, marrying the other prince, not having the bravery of a knight or the wit of a maester unlike his elder siblings. He only had his beauty and perhaps his talent in hiding in his chambers reading about dreadful, wilting things that the Grand Maester had said unsuitable as a hobby, so he opted to taking care of frail flowers in his garden like they were a part of him. He’s too naive for the world, everyone thought so, as he lives in his own world - making the Lannisters think he’s the easiest pick of all. Not much risk taking this one, they probably thought of that too, Jongin was sure. They also easily brushed off the unpleasant rumours about the prince, insisting that it would be fine and would only strengthen the bond with the two familiers once they marry. While the whispers about him being a torturous psychopath was never true, he wished that these people would buy it. Too bad they were unbothered.

He’s an odd one out of the family, his father had said once in front of Lord Yifan, the Warden of the North who once had expressed his desire in marrying Jongin. Indeed his father has been shooing away any suitors in the past, not having any confidence in having little Jongin snatched away by someone else until the King himself commanded him to marry Prince Sehun in order to secure their political relationship. And for the sake of his family, Jongin sails away from home, though he turned his head to look forlornly from the ship at his gloomy mother waving her handkerchief from the shores. When will be the next time he can see her again?

He only figured that it was too late to run off back to Dorne when his brother grabbed his hand, leading him outside the room to walk towards the altar. Everything happened too fast, his legs felt wobbly when he meets Sehun’s gentle eyes and charming smile - and the next thing he knows, the High Septon officiated the marriage after his now-husband cloaked him in furry red fabric with golden patterns adorning it. He remembered when they first met when Sehun came to Dorne to propose formally to him and his family, respecting their customs in courting a royal member of the family and allowed the both of them to know each other first. Jongin didn’t have high expectations, but he never dreamed that his spouse to be is highly attentive of him and the littlest things he had said. Maybe this could be a good start for them both, at least that’s what he hopes, as he believes first impressions usually speaks a lot about one’s true nature.
