"cauldron cakes? salazar, if you want an exquisite cake treat, i can owl my dear friend and accomplished baker, reyny adhon. all cauldron cake is going to do is leave you wanting a pint. trust me." the dark haired witch offered, a kind of offer she only ever gives her closest friend or to her fellow slytherins because the last thing she will accept is for people in her own house to have low standards.

"hey, they're not that bad!" she exclaimed. there was no good reason why she should need to defend her choice in snack other than the fact that she couldn't stand to have anyone looking down at her for any reason. "but if you have a better offer, i'm not going to refuse." she said, eyeing the cauldron cakes one last time. "not that sugar quills are any better. you don't happen to know an accomplished candy maker?"

aster had learned from the many petty arguments with her brother to pick her battles, and while it may have been tempting, this was one she wasn't picking. "i'm only here for the cauldron cakes, anyway." aster wasn't the type for sweet treats, or sales for that matter, but she was never one to look a gift horse in the mouth.
