From Blueprints to Billboard Charts
In 1955 Philip Johnson’s protege Harold Steadman designed a modernist home defined by clarity, structure & bold transparency. Decades later that very house stepped into music history becoming the iconic cover for Billy Joel’s Glass Houses album. Sharp lines, clean geometry and a little rebellious edge. It proved that great design doesn’t just shape spaces, it shapes culture. When architecture is fearless enough it becomes a stage, a statement and sometimes a rock & roll legend. Â
The structure is located in Cove Neck Long Island NY and Billy Joel himself lived there from the late 70s to the early 80s.
