i have this really strange anxiety in regards to art where i feel like if i dont put all of my art knowledge into practice every single day i'm gonna lose my skills
and buddy, i'm preeeety sure that's not how it works :p
looking for animal references on image searches has always kind of sucked but it's much worse after AI image generation technology has begun to actually past muster, which is why i always just go straight to inaturalist. can't recommend this highly enough. you get to both find out about niche species you've never even heard of and also see some really good photographs like this one

(part two of the epilogue is not out as of writing this post)
talking about Gervan a little bit, because oh man.
His relationship with Cyran
At first i thought the reason Gervan refused to mention Cyran was because they had a contract, like in ToM where some characters that made a contract physically couldn't share certain details, but from this dialogue it's pretty clear that Gervan genuinely respects and maybe even looks up to Cyran, at least as a scholar\reasercher
I dont have much to add on this topic in specific, but i still found it interesting
His guilt
It's interesting how apparent his guilt actually is- he's trying at all cost to make everyone's image of him worse. About Leymar- while Gervan did kill him it was made pretty clear in the cutscene (which i wont even bother to get footage of, that's too much work lol) that it was an accident, something he did driven by panic; Gervan also sounded sad when speaking about him, and it was mentioned he respected the headmaster a lot, so we know he did feel bad about it
I guess the reason Gervan is trying so hard to worsen your opinion of himself is because he thinks he is irredemable, and wants people around him to confirm as much.
Gervan believes he doesnt deserve Silven's friendship or forgiviness even when Silven himself offers it to him, so he pushes Silven away
Gervan thinks he is irredemably evil, so he tries to get people around him to see him as cruel and irrationaly selfish; and this might also be why he so outwardly admires Cyran. Again, trying to make himself seem worse by admiring someone he knows has caused suffering to others, especially since he's saying it to Merlin, who's had to personally deal with Cyran fucking shit up more than once
His disability (and lack thereof)
this one genuinely, genuinely is pissing me off so please bare with my bs
The fact they didnt even bother to add ramps, lifts, or any kind of disability aid to his house even thought Gervan being disabled is such an important part of the character and story as a whole actually made me a little upset, and now it still pmo
He's been living in this house probably his whole life + he's been disabled for how long, a decade? Maybe more? And you're telling me they never did anything to make his quality of life at least a little better?
It's pissing me off so much, atp i'm just gaslighting myself into thinking his family just genuinely fucking hates him or smth.
With the way this house is structured, Gervan would need constant help to go anywhere -which also means, in a way, that he has no privacy- , and like, can you imagine needing constant help just to move around your own home?? Not being able to go anywhere alone beacuse the enviroment you've been living your whole life is straight up hostile to you??? And Gervan is a prideful person, that shit must be actually so humiliating for him
And also the fact he's still in a wheechair?? They literally animated him not using the wheelchair in cutscenes, could they really not have reused the model and made a few new animations?? He had like maybe 3 or 4 diff expressions in all of his dialogue bro (walking cycles do be hard tho, but surely they had the time for it)
+ the fact they kind of just removed Gervan's disability from the picture altogether doesnt sit right with me man. He's no longer disabled and now suddenly he's being set up to be seem as redeemable? All of this feels like such a waste of his character at certain points, even if i do still like him
That aside, i'm curious about this
I'm actually a bit confused as to wheter the recipient or caster is the one recieving the life force- but in Gervan's case, he is both, meaning he took the full blow from this. Considering the goal was to cure his body, this means after the ritual\spell his mental state is permanently altered
Like, what does this mean?? Surely this is relevant right????
+ there's the fact he comes from a conservative family. We dont know exactly what being conservative entails, but Savanah's political scenario is pretty insane, so i think just by paying attention to how npc nobles act, you can get somewhat of an idea
Gervan was most likely expected, from a very young age, to be the perfect heir. His disability clearly changes the way he views his own ability to succeed. Gervan can no longer fit the standard for what is "correct" according the people around him, which as we know resulted and a lot of internalized ableism. Also there's the fact that all of Savanah was designed with able-bodied people in mind (you can look through all of the Upper District, i'm almost completely certain that there's not a single ramp in sight), so Gervan also lived a great deal of his life in a place that was literally not made for him (and the same goes for the Serene Lycium actually, it's also not an accessible place for disabled people from what we see)
His relationship with Silven
First of, their reunion
As i said, trying to push Silven away, even when he tries to reach out first
Since his dialogue stopped having the "..." for a bit, I assume Gervan was probably trying to hold his ground and act like he wasnt affected, so this seems like it really got to him. Maybe from Silven admitting he was wrong in thinking Gervan was fine on his own, maybe from being confronted about never having been honest in how he feels, idk
The way Silven tries to find any possible excuse to stay close to Gervan would be funny if it weren't tragic
This is some pretty solid proof that, no matter what Gervan says or tries to convince them off, he really did care about Silven
also, Silven come on dude you cant be that down bad
I think that, besides the obvious reasons, Gervan also refused because he knew Silven would do just about anything for him
Now, outside of the epilogue quest; finding out that the Hastings are a conservative family really got me thinking about these two way differently.
The thing about Silven and Gervan is- Gervan is from a renowed family that has close ties with the royal court, while Silven comes from some fallen knight family. Did Gervan's parents even approve of their friendship at first? The Grenvalden family isnt that important politically or in any other area as far as we know, so not exactly a beneficial relationship to have. Does that mean Gervan had to put in effort to be allowed that friendship? Does Silven know?
Also, since Gervan mentions already knowing that Silven befriended him with secondary intentions, i think he never allowed himself to truly see Silven as a friend because he was afraid that their friendship was shallow, and that deep down Silven only saw their relationship as a means to an end. Gervan was afraid that he didnt actually take him or their friendship seriously
This would also impact the relationship from a romantic perspective; while we do see a few (really very few) characters being outwardly queer (such as Fay openly flirting with Temesia in the Rewakened Power chapter of the starter story) we cant really be sure how queerness is viewed in Esperia, and especially in a place like Savanah where everything is so performative. It is very likely tho that any child of a noble would be expected to produce an heir and continue the bloodline- aka be straight and cis
Extra stuff idk where to fit
This dialogue very likely means that Gervan is an only child, but i also really like the idea that he might only have sisters; i think that'd be a pretty interesting dynamic considering the eviroment and situation
also i guess he did end up getting a new cat lol
well if you've read all of this, thanks, and sorry that it ended up so long
feel free to correct me on anything or add new info :3
(part two of the epilogue is not out as of writing this post)
I mean we knew this was a thing already bc of Aurelian, but i wasnt expecting them to just call it the seven deadly sins (not sure what i expected, but it still feels a little off for some reason)
Since Pride is mostly regarded as the worst sin I wonder if that title is also the most important within the syndicate; I've also been wondering if Illucia was an elder, and if yes what title she held, and if she lost her position after falling into the void (and wheter she ever got that position back)
I'm also curious if they'd even do anything at all for Lust; maybe lust could be a brothel owener or something
"oh fanservice" "oh sex haha funny" yeah anyway i think it could make for good commentary about how the sex industry is predatory. But that can be a very heavy topic, so i'm not sure if they'd be willing to explore it as a theme
Also wondering why the syndicate would choose the 7 deadly sins specifically? And also what would be the criteria for becoming an elder (asside from being a powerful or experinced mage); assuming you must perform something noteworthy to the syndicate, does it have to be related to a deadly sin? Well i'm hoping this game survives long enough for us to find out

This is just some random yapping and a hypotesis
Safe to assume from these that Kraff is very clearly alive, the thing with the coffin is obv just so no one realizes the body is gone
I think we'll be confronting him either in part two of the epilogue or sometime next season. And i think said confrontation will occur while they're trying to get into Bantus, and so will lead to some important information being revealed- possibly who the family from House GC is (i at least dont remember seeing anything about them, so do correct me if i'm wrong) or about Cyran himself, like his experiments and what-not
Also, this is somewhat of a stretch, but i think there's a possibility that Kraff is responsible for the dragon eggs dissapearence. We know that he works for Cyran and not Voracia, but technically all the Elders work somewhat together; because Eryndor was so interested in the dragon eggs it could be that it has some use for the graveborn as a whole, so they could be trying to sneak the eggs, or whatever is left of them, into Bantus
(but also because of this, which is implying someone other than Voracia was responsible for disposing of evidence)
Idk if i'm placing too much importance on a random npc but all feels relevant
ALSO what's up with Voracia having access to dragon eggs?? We know from the receipt that they were sourced from Ironhold Bay, and the sender is marked as Eldric, but he should out of the picture now. This either means that:
Voracia has an unknown amount of dragon eggs stocked
That receipt is an old one, and the eggs are actually being sourced from a new place, which would imply more dragons since Azkarion'Sol is awake and off to god knows where
Those eggs were the last supply she got and the events from EoD and CoA are ridiculously close in time
I feel like this game's whole timeline is a bit all over the place at times
