The first thing that jumped out at me was the word "light" in the name of the song. This, coupled with how positive the song composition sounds with it's lead guitars and pretty cinematic/orchestral plucks, gave me a sense that the song's intention is to shine a light through the darkness & illuminate a path forward. The darkness component being drawn out because the moon comes out at night time, when it's dark.
But what if that light is finite & sometimes we have to feel our way through the dark? I get the sense that many people are trying to move forward by feeling their way through a darkness caused by shadows cast from their pasts. Almost like we've made our bed & now we're delaying the inevitable reality that we will have to lie in it.
In the moment when I wrote these lyrics, my ADHD brain chose to juxtapose the hopefulness conveyed by the music, with the sense of hopelessness many of us feel, when the evening draws near after work. This is probably not what Maru Martinez was trying to convey but it is a snapshot in time of creativity in the moment.
