Hello everyone, different post to normal! My friend @knottreally is looking for survey participants for their masters research on the accessibility of on-demand live-recorded Shakespeare productions.
Can't afford the streaming services? Tell me. Glad you can watch from home because actual theatres are inaccessible for you? Tell me. Streamed something really accessible but it wasn't Shakespeare? Tell me. Never managed to find a show you wanted to watch that actually had audio description? Tell me. Only ever streamed shows illegally uploaded to YouTube - bestie, this survey is anonymous and you now have the power to make me explain what a slime video is in my thesis!
This survey is part of my masters research, where I'm looking at how the accessibility of streamed Shakespeare productions has changed since lockdown and if there's anything we can do to make it better. I want to hear from as many people with as many different access needs as possible. Participants don't have to identify as disabled to take part, and there is space for carers to answer from their own perspective of helping others access these services.
The survey isn't long, but it will take time because most of the questions are asking you to answer in your own words. There is an Easy Read English pathway for anyone who might find reading English difficult.
If you have any other access requirements or would prefer to do the survey in another format, please email me and I will do everything I can to make sure you can take part. If you have any questions or would like to arrange other access requirements, email me at [email protected]
It took me about 45 minutes to fill out but I did get very side tracked looking for a particular recording of The Play That Goes Wrong on YouTube π€ If you could take the time to do the survey or share it would be a big help ππ
Tiny intro to me and my research: I'm a part-time postgraduate researcher in theatre studies at the University of York. My research area is Shakespeare, digital theatre, and accessibility.

You don't have to identify as disabled to take part. It's not a super long survey but it will take time because most of the questions are asking you to answer in your own words. There is an Easy Read English pathway for anyone who might find reading English difficult.
Anything you think might be relevant, take the survey and tell me about it.

[IMAGE ID: Light blue poster with University of York logo at the top and an illustration of a laptop with Shakespeare on the screen. The poster text reads "Accessible Shakespeare Streaming: (post-)pandemic accessibility of on-demand live-recorded Shakespeare productions. Are you interested in Shakespeare or theatre? Have you watched a theatre production online? Are you d/Deaf, disabled, neurodivergent, have an impairment, or have any access needs? Take part in this survey and help make streaming Shakespeare productions more accessible for everyone!"]
[no image ID provided for the Easy Read poster as this is a visual access strategy translating the info in the text post, but if anyone is curious I can add it in replies]

[ID: Painted clay sculpture of a centaur lying on his side with his arms loosely crossed and head propped against his shoulder. His eyes are closed in a relaxed expression. He has a healed scar running from his armpit across his chest. His horse-body is red-brown with dapples on the sides and a white belly and back legs. End ID.]
Happy pride month! Recent commission remaking this Arnold BΓΆcklin centaur study from last year, this time with top surgery scars. This was a special piece to work on and I'm pleased with how he turned out :)

[ID: Black and white lino print of a herd of red deer walking through woods. A stag with large antlers partly behind a tree looks up towards a yellow Lascaux deer further into the woods partly obscured by a tree. End ID.]
Decided to make this rough painting from last year (under read more) into a lino print. Prints available on my shop

Won't be posting proper camera photos of this specific piece for a while but wanted to check in advance what are people's thoughts on the best way to tag something bloody/gorey? Specifically it's a ceramic penguin with a removable head with blood on the inside and a bit of spine sticking out.
Would tagging it as #tw blood and #tw gore be sufficient?
Also should I tag it as #tw dead animal even though its not a real animal π€
Rough phone photo of piece below the cut:

Not clear in the photo but there is a small bit of blood dripping down the chest so if the head is on the blood is still visible. I'm not sure if it's gorey enough to tag as tw gore as it's not too realistic but idk
I just wanted to say that your art is so so beautiful!! I love the colours you use, do you use natural dyes? The tones feel so rich and organic <33
Thank you! It's mainly acrylic paint and the natural colour of the clay haha but the wild pottery pieces (here and here) were decorated with powdered oxides and ochre.
