mulholland drive was Just Ok however the scene where the two ladies go to the theater does continue to have a lasting impact on my psyche. Like they were bored but they were enjoying it but they were also being fucked by it which is just so true and how I usually feel when I myself go to live shows.
my library just sent me an email telling me they are going to buy a book rather than borrow it from interlibrary loan like I asked… my impact.

kitty help. my mother has gotten both facial plastic surgery and a BBL and the profound existential horror that these processes have caused in me (bc i have to either directly and indirectly help her with the recovery from these surgeries) is quite unlike anything else ive experienced. do you know of anything written about daughters witnessing their mothers self harm in this way or of the interpersonal dynamics of comestic surgery? i just needed to tell someone thanks ily
ok first off I’m so sorry that sounds so horrible, i can’t imagine having to deal with that. i’m not exactly sure, there’s some fraught mother daughter stuff in flesh wounds & you all grow up and leave me, but it’s from mothers forcing their daughters into nose jobs as teens. any followers want to chime in?
I’m so sorry you’re going through this, anon. I’d maybe recommend “Eight Bites” by Carmen Maria Machado? It’s fictional but it certainly delivers on existential horror and mother-daughter relationships — told from the point of view of the mother, though. You can read it here if you want: http://texas.gulfcoastmag.org/journal/29.2-summer/fall-2017/eight-bites/.
