They’re making out. Making up.

Felix is still freezing, shivering all over. His hands are icy cold, clutching at Christine’s shirt like his life depends on it. His nose and cheeks are burning red, but only partially from being outside in freezing cold for maybe a little bit too long. 

They kiss like they're trying to rip each other’s faces off. Messy, impatient, biting hard enough so it hurts just a little and her fingers tangled in his hair, pulling maybe too hard.

They had an argument at the grocery store. A small one at first, but it escalated into a full-on fight before either of them could notice or realize that things are going where they shouldn’t. A fight over something so small and not important that they can’t even remember why they’re mad at this point. 

The silence in the car felt heavy in a very unpleasant way.

“Pull over. Right now.”

“No!”“Christine. I said pull over.”

She did. He got out of the car and slammed the door harder than necessary. 

She doesn’t remember what she was thinking while she was driving home. She does remember that, after pulling up in her parking spot and killing the engine, she slammed her forehead against the steering wheel. Then – stairs, kicking her shoes off, marching to the couch and flopping face first into the pillows with a loud, frustrated groan.

This idiot.

She’s on the couch, doomscrolling social media, still feeling some lingering anger, with that crease between her brows that Felix would usually kiss away. 

It’s been… How long? One hour? Two? Since the fight, when she hears the door open. Then close quietly. Felix is there, shaking, brows knit and he’s looking at his feet. Just standing there like he doesn’t know if he’s allowed to walk in any further.

The next thing she knows she’s jumping off the couch and, after what felt like just a second, she’s grabbing his jacket and yanks him down. Her lips crushing against his and him making a startled little noise. 

They’re making out. Making up.

They kiss like they're trying to rip each other’s faces off. Messy, impatient, biting hard enough so it hurts just a little and her fingers tangled in his hair, pulling maybe too hard.

He’s holding onto her for dear life, like he’s absolutely terrified of letting go even for a second.

He doesn’t let her look at his face when they pull away. Doesn’t want to let her see the expression he’s making. He ducks his head and burrows his face in her shoulder. His arms circle around her, hands fisting in the fabric of her shirt. 

He’s shaking. 

He’s silent, just breathing for a long, long moment. She lets him. 

Her own arms wrap slowly around him.

His voice is small, shaky, muffled against her shoulder when he finally speaks. 

“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry, Christine. I’m an idiot and a dumbass and a stupid jerk and I’m so, so sorry.” The words fall from his lips in a rush. 

“Felix, I’m sorry.”

They’re silent for a little longer and she feels her eyes stinging, but she blinks it away.

He nuzzles into her shoulder, taking a deep breath in. Then he pulls away, looking at her uncertainly. He looks like she feels right now. 

Her body moves before she can think better of it. 

She kisses him again.

This time it’s careful, slow. She kisses him like he’s the most precious thing in her life.

And he melts.
