"Radyo"
This is a doodle of my daughter dancing with a giant golden crowned flying fox bat, which are megabats in the Philippines. I never knew these existed until last year!
Day 4 Prompt of Inktober 2020: Radio
"Kapre"
Kapre are hairy giants that live in large trees and like to smoke. If you smell a strong odor near a tree, there may be a kapre near you!
Day 3 Prompt of Inktober 2020: Bulky
"Dwende"
In the Philippines, a dwende is a little dwarf that lives on a mound of dirt. Be careful where you step! If you step on one of their homes, they might strike back at you!
(All Filipino mythical creatures I learned about through my cousins when I lived there from 2007-2013! So the stories I've heard may be different from other stories.)
Day 2 Prompt of Inktober 2020: Wisp
"Isda (Fish)"
I'm going to be posting some of my old art from last year's Inktober. I made it Filipino-themed since October is Filipino American History Month! Day 1 Prompt: Fish. I tried to draw a mermaid wearing a Filipiniana, but the sleeves are definitely not poofy enough!

It's okay to rest. ❤️
HELLO!
Wowww, the last time I posted was 2 years ago!! Do you remember me? No?? That’s okay. (❁´◡`❁) I was reminded of Tumblr by a teacher friend who still uses it, and thought: why not? I’ve been doodling more often again so might as well post sometimes?
Also my username is so nostalgic now. No one calls me Emi anymore, but that’s okay too. ❤
Almost 9 years ago, I started an art blog, emi-doodles.tumblr.com. I was in college, constantly doodling away on notes and thinking up stories and gobbling up all the cute quotes I could find. My blog was a place to share my art (and ultimately a piece of myself), and I felt joy that others appreciated it even if they were tiny, imperfect things. Then life happened and I didn't have time anymore. The doodles and imaginings were less frequent. But somehow I always found myself intrigued and inspired by the artists all around me. So, I told myself, I'll keep trying. Art is a part of me, and I shouldn't stop just because I'm not a professional or it's not a business I own. I will keep trying, for the sake of my joy. ♥️ https://www.instagram.com/_emidoodles/p/Bv7S07HnFXp/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1mtw28v06ojgt
Hello! It’s Emi. The last time I posted was 7 months ago. Before that was even more sporadic. I feel a little bad, but not too bad. I don’t think people remember me much anymore. :)
Anyway, It’s Thanksgiving break for my students, which means it’s a break for me too! So I decided to try doodling something (which was actually immensely difficult despite how simple this one looks... I’m so rusty). I had to look back at this blog to remember what my “style” was (and I still can’t really figure it out!).
Looking back is always fun/funny. I started this blog when I was a 20-year-old college student, single, trying to figure out life and whether or not I wanted to really pursue teaching. Now I’m a 26-year-old Language Arts teacher, married, and 3 months pregnant. Life is going by so fast, you guys!
I’ve been doing a horrible job of documenting my life (which I used to do through doodles and photography). I want to do better now though, since I will be a mother soon! Maybe I’ll draw comics about what it’s like to be a mother, ahaha. Maybe not. We’ll see.
I’m done ranting lol. Hope you guys have a wonderful Thanksgiving week! <3

Inspired by the song “Witching”, by Reese and Vica. c:
Oh you know, just that 25-year-old who wants to push all the kids out of the way in Disneyland to get to all the rides/princesses first. <3
(Jk, I believe the children are the future. Teach them well and let them lead the way.)
The struggle is REAL.
Spring (Break) got me like!

Has anyone read The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto? It’s the first book I’ve read so far in 2016 and I loved it. It’s especially fun if you enjoy or play music, because then you’ll understand what the narrator is talking about (the narrator is Music, btw).
This is Aurora York, one of the main characters, described as blonde and beautiful with lipstick a little too red. Haven’t drawn in a while and this is what I came up with. n__n
