The king hovered above the waves, winged feet flapping in the wind. His arms were folded over his muscular chest and his face was hardened. So much destruction, so much loss. The decimation above the water was a mere spec compared to the damage below. His kingdom lay in ruins and his people scattered to the winds once more. And to think heâd joined the mutants to reunite his people, to build a better life.
Behold the fruits of my labour. Namor thought cynically. âI donât seek metaphors. I desire only vindication.â He answered the green haired woman when she appeared. Stormy eyes regarded her closely. She was attractive, beautiful even. He recalled seeing her somewhere before but couldnât quite place it.Â
"Thereâs nothing good to be found here, woman. Only lost souls that need to be put to rest." Namor remarked solemnly. He felt a stab of pain in his chest; an emotional response to the weight of his loss.Â
Lorna hadn't realized she wasn't alone, her head jerked as she spun towards the smooth voice. His response made her re-evaluate her words and bite her tongue. Big curious emerald orbs scanned the figure, it didn't take her long to realize who he was which made her want to kick herself even more. "I didn't mean any disrespect...." She spoke softly, watching the regal man move with grace and ease. Swallowing a bit, she pressed her lips in a thin line. He wasn't wrong, there was nothing here for her and she should've taken his advice, taken his words at face value. Though she was stubborn and it wasn't like her to just fold. Nodding her head a bit, she agreed with him. "What if that's exactly what I'm looking for?" She breathed, not sure if her words would insult him, though that too had never stopped her before.
It had been a while since Lorna had seen the island, since the battles and war between two powerful teams. A long time indeed. The green haired mutant would do just about anything to cling to the memories she had of the people she lost. Not that they were dead or gone forever, but it was too painful to see them, to think about them as they are now. She huffed, using her abilities to push herself up and into the air, floating over the sinking city. The emotional pain contorted her features. She'd never let her team know that she did this, that she went into her past, mentally, frequently. Lorna had seen better days with X-Factor. Now it just felt like a struggle, everything did. Another sigh left her lips as she slowly lowered herself, toes first. One foot at a time she felt the sandy earth beneath her. "It seems like this place is a metaphor of our lives...." She spoke aloud as she glanced down at the wreckage, bricks and metal mixed with the sand, only being exposed as the shore washed up and pulled back the earth to reveal its true nature.Â

"Oh wow...you certainly are-" Lorna shook her head and smiled, amazed at the sight of the youth of a man she'd known for some time. "It's very nice to meet you Warren." The words felt odd in her mouth. "My name is Lorna...and it's the logo of a company I work for." She felt her smile widen as she extended her hand for him to shake.
