Sittin' in the drivers seat

If Choso had one wish, it would definitely be to die.

Actually, no- his number one wish would be to stop playing babysitter while his brother cooked them lunch. Watching two five-year-olds run around the house was not as fun as you’d think.

It was more of you and Choso watching Yuji trash the house, though. Choso sighed as his little brother flung legos back and forth across the living room, while his little sister sat quietly on the couch, watching some random cartoon in content.

He craned his head back, watching Sukuna move around the kitchen. How much longer was he going to have to do this?

His gaze flickered back to you. For the past thirty minutes, you had been absentmindedly feeding your pet cat, Bibble (thanks to Yuji, who had stolen the Barbie movie dvds you had gotten as a birthday gift from Sukuna), treats every so often.

You’d reach into the box, and throw your hand off the side of the sofa and await Bibble to lick it up from your hand. The problem with this system was that your cat would take the treat from you, circle round the couch several times, then come back for another treat.

Choso smirked. “Y’know, [N/N], if you feed Bibble too much, she’ll grow reaaallly big and burst like a balloon.”

You dropped the box, head slowly turning to face him.

“WHAT?” You let out a shriek of absolute horror.

“No- [N/N], I was just joking-”

What Choso didn’t expect from his tiny prank was for you to burst out crying, warm tears streaming down your face almost instantly. Maybe he should’ve thought that through before making a joke about your cat exploding into a tiny million flesh pieces because you were feeding your cat.

Once a wail escaped your lips, Sukuna whipped around from his spot from the stove, making Choso and Yuji freeze.

“What. The. Hell. Did. You. Do.”

“I was joking!” Choso explained, hands moving around animatedly. The dark haired boy was scared for his life, and he was actually considering running out the front door.

As if you were replying to his response, you started to sob even more dramatically than you were before.

Yuji patted your legs with a stubby hands. “Don’t cry, [N/N]!”

The boys spent the next forty minutes trying to stop you from crying. And when they say nothing worked, they mean absolutely nothing worked.

Snacks? Choso got a slap to the face, and man, you had a mean right hook, even at five.

Your favourite toy? You almost smashed the TV with it.

Picture of your parents?- okay that one was just a bad idea in general, it almost made all of them cry with you.

Now you were in sukuna’s arms, tiny hands clutching his shirt and fat tears rolling down your cheeks and onto his sleeve.

“What the fuck, Choso? Why would you tell her Bibble would explode?”

“Oooo, you cussed.” Yuji murmured.

“Shut up, brat.”

“I didn’t think she’d start crying!” Choso whined, running his hands through his hair.

“She’s five!”

You started babbling a load of nonsense, causing sukuna’s gaze to soften. You really were his one and only sister.

He quickly caught himself, expression hardening again.

Your mumbles were muffled by your sobbing, but yuji heard something along the lines of ‘gumi’, and he already knew what to do.

He sprinted past Sukuna, ducking under his brother’s arm, causing him to yelp sharply. “Where the fuck are you goin’?”

Yuji jumped as high as he could, and snatched Sukuna’s phone right off the kitchen counter.

“Y’little shit!” Sukuna cursed, setting you down on the couch, still crying. He chased Yuji around the house in an attempt to get his phone back, to no avail.

Choso crouched down beside you, pouting. “I’m sorry, [N/N].”

Your legs dangled off the sofa, lip still quivering, threatening to burst into tears once more.

Suddenly, Sukuna’s phone connected to your large TV, already screen sharing the face time app.

You didn’t know how to read long ass words yet, but Choso did.

Contact name: Toji Fushiguro.

Why did he have Toji Fushiguro on his phone, you may ask? Sukuna didn’t bother to remember the spiky haired kid’s name, but a few years ago his dad had given him the kid’s dad’s number.

Now, why did Yuji know Sukuna had this number? I don’t know.

It rang several times before someone who was in fact not Toji Fushiguro picked up the phone.

Megumi’s face was squished up against the camera until he pulled it away. The boy was playing a game on his father’s phone, and he had just so happened to be the one to pick up.

Yuji tripped, and Sukuna’s phone flew across the room.

“Ah, shit-”

His phone barely missed the ceiling fan, and landed straight into your lap.

Choso held up the phone so your face would come into the view. “Hey, [Name], look! Who’s that?”

You sniffled, rubbing your eyes. “Megi?”

“Hi, [N/N].”

You were five, and his name was a few syllables too long for you to comprehend. The nickname had stuck ever since choso was trying to teach you say Megumi’s name but sneezed mid way.

You grabbed the phone gently from your older brother’s hands, waddling away and into your room, forgetting that the device was still synced to the TV screen. Just ten minutes ago you were crying your head off, and now you were talking about the new pokemon game Choso had bought. He nodded and shook his head as responses instead of actually answering your questions. He had just finished his lunch and was probably on the verge of falling asleep himself.

Your three brothers watched as you started yapping about whatever to Megumi as he stared blankly at the screen.

The even caught a tiny smile growing on baby gumi’s face.

“They look so cute!” Choso cooed at your now beaming face on the screen.

“If they end up dating you owe me $100.”

“Bet.”

mornings when chuuya didn’t have to work for the day were the best mornings.

you could always convince him to stay in bed with you, as long as you liked.

and he complained sometimes, saying you should have a more ‘productive morning’ than this, but he always obliged after you nudged him a bit.

he always folded under no pressure, he can’t resist your cute face when you pout at him, that’s his weakness.

chuuya had taken a well needed day off, no mafia business at all, even making a few phone calls was completely off the list.

after your constant nagging for him to take a break once in a while, allowing him to sleep in for as long as he’d like, making sure to rest his muscles well after working himself to the bone these past weeks.

he always made late hours, coming home when you’re asleep and leaving before you woke up.

you missed him alot, you didn’t know the last time you had a proper conversation with him, not even having taken a good look at his face all these weeks.

you woke up before him, which was unusual if it were any other day, but he deserved the rest.

the morning sunrise enveloped the bedroom in a warm glow, streaks of sunlight stretching along the messy bed.

decorative pillows thrown to the edge of the bed and some fallen to the floor. the thick duvet was bunched up into a ball, barely covering both your bodies.

chuuya laid on his side, one arm under his head and the other hanging over your waist.

you held a had out to swipe away some stray hairs falling on his cheek, then lightly brushing your thumb over his cheekbone.

you pressed a featherlight kiss to his lips, admiring his content sleeping face.

he looked so at peace like this, no crease in his brow, chest rising and falling with every soft breathe he took.

you wished he’d take a break more often, not working himself to the bone with every passing day.

you stayed like this for a long while, your index finger softly tracing his features, from the tip of his nose to the edge of his sculpted jaw. peppering light kisses all over the skin of his face and neck.

you pressed one last kiss to his lips as he slowly opened his eyes, blinking a few times to adjust to the sunlight pouring in the room.

‘g’morning, love.’ you mumbled, giving him a light peck on each of his eyelids. ‘mornin’ babe, what time ‘s it?’ he said through a yawn, stretching his limbs for a second then wrapping both his arms around you in a tight embrace.

‘mm, don’t know, didn’t check yet.’ you wrapped your arms around his neck to bring him even closer to you.

he tried to roll over to the other side to check the digital alarm clock for the time, but you stopped him by swinging a leg over his hip and pulling his face to your chest.

‘don’t you dare move, ‘m putting you on house arrest today.’ you heard a laugh coming from chuuya, muffled by his face being smothered by your chest.

‘house arrest, seriously?’ you could listen to chuuya’s morning voice forever, deeper and raspier than normal, always putting you in a trance everytime he spoke.

‘mhm, y’re not allowed to do anything today.’ you hugged his head even closer to you, wrapping your other leg around him too so you held him like you were a koala, and he was the tree.

he moved one hand from your waist to rub the expanse of your exposed thigh, tracing random shapes on the skin with the soft tip of his fingers, only he knew what he was writing on your skin, no one else, not even you could decipher it.

you laid like this for a long while, the sunlight casting a gentle warmth over your bodies, paired with chuuya’s natural bodyheat seeping into you, paired together for the perfect amount of warmth without needing a duvet to cover you.

the only noise was the occasional breeze passing through the slightly open window, and soft breathing from both you and chuuya.

you could stay like this forever, with chuuya in your embrace, so impossibly close together, bodies moulded together like a puzzle piece,

you nearly fell asleep like this, chuuya’s soft breathing almost lulling you back to dreamland, the comfortable warmth of his body always made you so sleepy.

if it weren’t for chuuya having moved himself to sit up, slipping himself out of your tight embrace, you would’ve fallen asleep right there and then.

‘c’mon baby, don’t fall asleep on me now. didn’t take a day off to watch you sleep all day.’ he pressed kisses all over your face, finishing with a tender one on your lips.

you leaned into the hand he had on your cheek, thumb ghosting over your bottom lip before kissing you again.

‘lay with me a little longer, missed you alot.’ you moved him to lay down flat again, allowing you to rest your head on his bare chest.

‘ ‘kay, baby. but i’ll make us breakfast in a bit.’ you gave him a nod, wrapping your arms around his waist to prevent him from moving.

he put one hand on your head, raking his fingers through your messy hair, the other finding it’s way back around your waist.

you moved your head so that your ear was against his sterum, listening to the rhythmic beating of his heart.

the beating of his heart was a sound you’d never ever get tired of, it was always so soothing to hear, you didn’t know why, but it just was.

laying on his chest always put you at peace after a long day, it made you forget all the bad things that happened on that day, simply focusing on the thumping of his heart.

chuuya loved having your head on his chest, his hand raking through your soft hair strands, sometimes he even attempted to make a small braid, but it would always fall out on it’s own.

he could hold you like this forever, and he’d die a happy man doing it.

the silence that filled the room wasn’t awkward, but comfortable. you didn’t need to talk to fill the room with sound, it was perfect as it is.

your finger had started tracing hearts on his chest, much he like he was doing early, but on your thigh.

after every finished heart, you pressed a kiss on the light red marks left by your nail, continuing for a while until—

chuuya fell asleep.

you noticed his hand had stilled on your head, and his breathing was slower than before. but you didn’t think he’d actually fall asleep, he literally told you not to fall asleep earlier, so he was breaking the promise you made to him.

in the moment it was the funniest thing ever to you, you still couldn’t believe he fell asleep, minutes prior to telling you to stay awake.

you took this rare moment to reach for your phone, being very careful not to wake him up.

you opened the camera app, double checked if the flash was off, it’d be really bad if he caught you doing this, and you took a ton of pictures of his cute sleeping face, from all angles, even some with the 0.5 camera.

after silently giggling to yourself at these pictures, you clicked your phone off and laid yourself on his chest again.

not too long after this, you also fell asleep.

neither of you woke up until much, much later. with chuuya frantically shaking your shoulders to wake you up.

he promised to himself to not stay in bed with you so long, but you knew that promise wouldn’t last very long.
