I remember the time when Brook annoyed me a lot.“Why is Oda spoiling that perfect crew with him ? Nobody cares about that useless guy, he has no purpose.” I even remember honestly thinking “If he die, if he disappear, or if some vilain kidnap him, could the Strawhats really be that sad ? If he decided to stay a star and to keep performing shows all over the world, would Luffy really turn the world over to keep him on the boat ?" 

Brook is here, but not here. He is a present-absent ghost. Brook is “the funky guy they hire on Thriller Bark we don’t care about”.

However, re-reading Thriller Bark, he seems great. Crazy, funny, a great design. 

But.

Maybe Brook is a waste.

A WASTE.

When the Strawhats looks at each other, there is love fizzling in the air, it makes sparks of happiness which says « You, I want to stay with you forever. » But, and Brook ? Awkward smile “Yes yes, you, too Brook, we love you *cough*”

Anyway, when he appears it’s to make some skeleton joke. We don’t want anymore of that. Even the Strawhats hate them.

Is it possible to be so wrong about someone ?

Brook isn’t the grandfather of the crew. Brook is an outsider, but Brook is beautiful.

Yes, Brook is different. He is somewhere else, but not behind , maybe even ahead ? This adventure is not his. Brook knows adventure, he even knows death. He is alone, because nobody will ever be like him.

He is happy of course, but the frenzy in not the same. His dream, after all, is to confess his failure to Laboon. To tell her what he lost, and what’s left. His dream is turned to the past. He enjoys life a lot, but it’s already afterlife after all.

The problem is, we want him to be a Mugiwara like the others. He won’t be. Brook is creaky, he is crazy and desperate, but he keep a cool head. 

He enters a Yonkou’s house and ransack the place. He calls her a young girl, for him she’s not that old. He doesn’t bow.

Brook, sorry. I hope you’ll forgive me. You made me understand. Brook, it’s so real when you cry for Pedro. Be strong, it’s not your fault.

You were so incredible in 2017 Brook. I wasn’t ready for all the moves you threw to my face.

When I saw you left with Pedro, last year, I thought “Well, excluded again...” But you couldn’t care less about being excluded, about being loved or not. You’re there, you rule over the world. You went to steal poneglyphs, to fight Big Mom and to ruin her wedding with a grinning smile. You do your thing in your own corner. In 2017 you changed the world, without pressure, just being you. An outsider. A good guy. Staying still in the Sunny. Too crazy to fit. Too old to believe in your dreams the same way as before. But too strong, even in death, to stop being you.

One of the most independant Strawhats.

One of the most alive. An invincible rockstar.

Yes you tried and you lost. Your original adventure is behind you. A lot of great things disappeared, a lot of people were left behind. But Laboon waits, and there is so many things left to sing.

Who could have guessed ? Me, a One Piece BLOG ?

But yes, here I am, with my heart burning with excitement, thinking about all the things I will put here. At last, a place where I can put all my passion for this damn manga. My obsession for it was painfully tied in my brain for too long now. This Tumblr is the only solution, the only medicine I can imagine. So let’s do it, and let’s do it with panache.

There will be fanart, poetry, music, autobiographical bits, and this will possibly be about me as much as it will be about One Piece. Because that’s the subject here. Not me, not One Piece, but the little parts where the two things fuse, shine and explode, to give something unique and new I must exteriorise.

Oh also. I’m talking in (bad) english here, because I know it’s Tumblr langage, and I want to present that blog to everyone here. But I’m french boy, and there will be a lot of french talking here. I will try to speak english, but the closest we are to my heart, the strongest is my need to express myself in my own language.
