A great book to read right now. Some parallels to what going on now. But the book set in the late 80’s was a time the British Military was a strong powerful force to be combined with NATO. Not the joint force it is today that’s barely a 10th of what it was 40yrs ago. We several aircraft carriers with multiple sqns of aircraft assigned to all of them. Today we have two of the largest aircraft carriers the Royal Navy has ever had… and no aircraft! Well unless they borrow them from the RAF (& USMC) but the RAF can’t use them… Let’s not for get the recent discussions by the UK Joint Staff about disposing of all the British Army’s tanks as any new wars would be a high tech battle?
