You just don’t understand.

This, this is why POC as main characters, as main leads matter so much. Those who have never experienced racial inequality, those who have never been on the receiving end of abuse, prejudice and hate just for the color of their skin will never understand why characters like Sam Wilson and Shang-Chi matter to people.

I hate that Simu-Liu is going through this. I hate that disgusting racists just can't live in a world where people other than those that look like them get their time to shine, but I'm also so happy and proud of him for everything he's accomplished and will continue to accomplish.

I’m a Black man carrying the stars and stripes. What don’t I understand? Every time I pick this thing up, I know there are millions of people out there who are gonna hate me for it. Even now, here… I feel it. The stares, the judgment. And there’s nothing I can do to change it. Yet, I’m still here. No super serum, no blonde hair, or blue eyes. The only power I have is that I believe we can do better.

Isaiah was one of a dozen African-American soldiers who were recruited against their will amd without their consent for participation in human testing in pursuit of the super soldier serum most did not survive. The few who lived through testing were sent on secret missions during the Korean War. During the conflict against all odds, Isaiah Bradley rescued his fellow soldiers and 28 other POWS from behind enemy lines.
