what i meant to say is that the mainstream digital art landscape on social media is so boring and closed minded

this is def true, and something i have thought about for years since i kind of forged my own way of digital painting that many would call "bizarre". though it really shouldn't be bizarre. 90% of the process i paint on entirely one layer, usually with one brush, as if i was oil painting, because i am also an oil painter. i find the artfight attack guidelines kind of ill-fitting because of this. according to the way they're written, i should assign less points to my intricate, oil-textured impressionist art, because it might have some "color spill" that's not "within the lineart". it's like the idea that i wouldn't have clearly defined color boundaries and lineart is completely alien. if that's the case, it must be a shitty sketch and not something i spent hours rendering. HUH.
