You can’t soften the truth into something that no longer resembles the point you were trying to get across in the first place. It’s your way of not wanting to hurt her feelings yet, all you’re doing is confusing her to preserve your own feelings so you didn’t have to see and deal with the pain that you’ve caused her. You don’t respect the honesty of hers and accuse her of trying to be pointed and hurtful. Don’t you see, the truth is sometimes hurtful, painful and destructive…but, it’s the truth. Not some fabricated version of it that leaves you feeling ok because you dodged an emotional bullet yet, she’s left bleeding from the pain and confusion from being used as your human shield to take the bullet for you. In the end you didn’t hurt her…you destroyed her.
