Not to panhandle too hard or give you my sob story but pitching in a dollar would really help me out. Three pages a week. That's twelve pages a month (plus occasional weekend comics) for a dollar. In this economy, that's not a bad deal.
Seems like a good time to pull out this old chestnut
A note to my mail carrier.

In his new column “Line Readings,” Ivan Brunetti begins with a close read of a single comics unit—a panel, a page, or a spread—and expands o
Brunetti examines the great cartoonist Mark Beyer. I'm looking forward to more of this column.
Bernie Wrightson’s original cover art for the Marvel Comics adaptation of Frankenstein has sold at auction for a world record price of $1.2
Now is a good time to point out that there are a lot of amazing cartoonists out there, selling pages for cheap. The holidays is when a lot of people make a push to sell their art.

Not to be too crass but speaking of money... my Hubert comic hit 100 pages today and it'll cost you a dollar (or more if you can afford it) to read them. I put up new pages three times a week. It's not the best way to read longform comics but it's what I have going on, right now.

Over the past few days, it's been nice to see so many memories being shared. People telling stories of their friend, stories that are personal but familiar too. I wish I'd been able to get to know him. I'm a shy, tight-lipped guy and the few times we interacted in person, I think Spurgeon could tell I didn't have much to say anyway. We shot a few emails back and forth. He was the only person who ever reviewed my minicomics. We disagreed about minor things online (those disagreements all ended with me saying something like "huh... you're probably right.")
Like many cartoonists my age, I was starting to get "serious" about making comics just as Spurgeon started editing The Comics Journal. That publication was a good first hurdle in my thinking about this damned and infuriating artform. When he started The Comics Reporter, I checked in every day to see what was going on. I checked other sites on occasion but Tom's was the place to go every morning.
This is probably the most wrecked I'll ever be about the passing of someone I barely knew. He was a unique window into the comics world and a unique and interesting writer. He was one of those big, bright voices that loved a thing I also love.
RIP
A collection of memories and stories from Tom Spurgeon's friends, colleagues, peers, as well as the artists he loved.
I finally bought a new scanner. If you need me this autumn, I'll be scanning 700 pages of comics. https://www.instagram.com/p/BnZ1cUrBzTZ/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=m901gtvsjnde
