End of week 1! Presentation day for UXDi 14. Good job everyone, the quality of the presentations was impressive!
Now it’s time to relax, document the your work and create the case studies. Get ready for a surprise Friday Funday activity. :D
New campus and new teacher for UXDi 14! We’ve moved to 1 Commercial Street, General Assembly’s new campus in London. It’s huuuge, shiny, new and AWESOME.
Tom Fletcher, our Designer In-house, has talked about Design Process and the students have been given the briefs for Project 2. Exciting!
The new @ga_london campus is so big that we need a map. :P (at General Assembly London)
Design Studio is an excellent technique to come up with great ideas in a short time.
If you are the facilitator, make sure you time box it properly and invite people from different positions: product managers, visual designers, developers… everyone can sketch and contribute.

Another chalk drawing at the new General Assembly campus! (at General Assembly London)
Freshly chalked at the new GA Campus. (at General Assembly London)
Midway through the first week of our two week sprint and our affinity map is up! We then categorised the map to help inform our design principles. Tomorrow it’s design studio prep and persona time!
Today we had a busy day wrapping up the research phase of our project: clarifying the groups we’d found in our affinity mapping into design principles, using the data we’d collected over the week to list and prioritize features and create personas and user flows, and working out what we wanted to achieve in Friday’s Design Studio. Tomorrow, we move into the design phase - Sharpies ready for some serious sketching!
After an intense week of research, we were ready to pour everything we've learned into the first sketches of our new feature for Movebubble. To do that, we've met again with our client at their office to conduct a Design Studio, and the experience has been great. This exercise is perfect to generate lots of ideas in a short time, and doing that with the guys in charge of the app makes sure you stay on the right track. We've come up with a bunch of new ideas and a good design for one of the most complex screens. The feedback from the stakeholders has been great. Right after that, back at General Assembly, we've been introduced to Axure, one of the most popular softwares to create website and app prototypes. To end the day we drank more beers than we should've, but they were well deserved. The project is finally taking shape, and it's looking good. This weekend we'll work on the paper prototype and next Monday we'll start testing. They don't call this course "intense" for nothing. ;)

Week 8 - 5th and final project of the UXDi course.
During this 2 weeks sprint we’ll be working on teams to design a new feature for an existing service.
Our client is Movebubble, a start up based in London which has created an app that makes finding rental properties as easy as possible for the renters.
Our mission is to design the feature that will allow users to place a holding deposit to reserve a property.
We got the brief last Friday, and during the weekend we worked on the competitive analysis and questions for the stakeholders.
Today we’ve visited Movebubble’s office and met the awesome team working there. They’ve been really helpful answering some of the questions that came up during our initial research and... gave is pizza and beer! :D
Right now we are working on a survey and looking into more competitors.
These are going to be two very intense and exciting weeks.
Just tried the final version of the Vive at the PC Gamer Weekender. I still can't believe how well it works! I didn't notice much improvement from the previous version besides the hardware design. Maybe it's because the demo hosted by Nvidia wasn't very well planned. Anyway, I can't wait to have one at home!
This morning we practiced our public speaking skills with a surprise game….Laura randomly generated 2 words and then you had 30seconds to sell something that had the theme of those two words. So funny!
Visual Design theory, practise and analysis
During this week Tricia has taught us about the principles of visual design. We’ve learn how to plan our designs to properly communicate the principles of our brand or product and how to prepare questionaries to test it with users.
Today, the last day, we’ve presented the high definition wireframes of the app we worked on during the first week of the course.
Teachers and classmates have given feedback to each project and we now how to work on a new version and a case study, which you’ll soon find in my Medium.
Let’s get started with #VisualDesign theory! #UXDI 11

Testing the digital prototype
Today we tested the digital version of the prototype at the Sony PlayStation canteen. We got great feedback and we are applying the changes right now.
We've also written the script for the presentation, designed the slides template and digitised some of the visual assets we’ll use. Our goal is to start rehearsing it tomorrow after lunch time, we still have a lot of work to do before that, but it’s looking good. Palos a gusto no duelen!
