KENDALL was not a social media person ; that much was obvious. however , as a so - called celebrity , he wasn’t allowed to go without it , not entirely. thus , he technically had all the necessary accounts across the internet. after posting something to hype big time rush’s upcoming album , he lingered on twitter a little longer than usual. based on his facial features alone , it was clear he was already annoyed by whatever was on his feed. “ is it necessary that every single person on this planet expresses every single opinion that they have ??? ”

“call you? why?” cady shook her head, trying to wrap her head around what exactly was happening. jd had always been pretty intense and possessive, but had never freaked cady out until this very moment. “hang on, can we talk for a minute?” cady carded her fingers messily through her hair, as if trying to find something to hang onto as she was losing her grip on reality. “look, i’m not stupid…i know there’s something really big that you’re keeping from me.” she finally exhaled, not quite sure where to start. “i don’t care what it is, i mean…i do, but i never wanted to push you to tell me because i don’t wanna scare you away but, shuck, i mean…fit…damn it!” cady turned, getting flustered as she suddenly wished she smoked like him. the idea of her being with those guys having no idea how dangerous they really were. “how am i supposed to protect myself from something i have no idea what i’m supposed to protect myself from?”

                “BECAUSE I DON’T WANT you to get hurt cady, jesus fuck, why are you asking so many questions?” he asked a bit sharply, because he was in fact on edge, the worry that everything is coming out not only being stressful enough but the fact these guys now talked to cady....they knew her face, he didn’t know what all they asked her, they could know where she lived for all he knew. sighing, he stopped walking for a moment as his gaze moved from the bar in the distance to cady, jaw clenched as he crossed his arms over his chest. “i can’t...” stopping himself short, he didn’t even know how to explain the fact that he killed three people in his past, blackmailed into a gang to continue a life of crime he wasn’t even sure he wanted anymore. sure, it gave him a rush and fed that destructive impulse, but when it put those he cared about into danger...that’s where the lines blurred. “if you knew about who i really was, things wouldn’t be the same cady. those guys that were talking to you, they are shady characters, i’m talking like...criminals with no empathy.” like that was any better than himself, but still, he let out a breath as he shook his head, “i don’t want you to get hurt, especially because of me.”

“oh, you’d be totally lost. i’m pretty sure of it.” she teased, leaning into his kiss with enthusiasm. they’d been enjoying each other’s company a while now, and cady still got butterflies and toe tingles every time they kissed, much to her delight. she waited patiently for him to finish his call, wrapping her arms around him, not so much in a hug…she knew he wouldn’t like that…but rather in a ‘patiently waiting’ stance. her head lolled to the side, lips pursed as she listened to him talk numbers. god, just when she thought he couldn’t get any sexier…if he started doing multiplication, cady was sure she’d have to rip his clothes off and have him right then and there. silently, she threw him a look asking ‘are you done yet?’

            A SMALL SMILE tugged on the corner of his lips, the fondness he had of cady still surprising him to this day, never did he expect to catch feelings for a brainiac yet here he was with a genuine smile on his face. “i don’t doubt it.” he confirmed before going back to his call, letting her hang on him without much protest, nodding as he listened to his client. “right, so each month those payments would run....about forty, give our take the time frame you were looking at. if you wanted a long installment it would run twenty four....yeah..” glancing down, he shot her a wink back to her little look of asking how much longer. covering the microphone with his palm, he chuckled, “you’re rather cute when you get impatient, you know that?”

“just wait, pretty soon each case will out crazy the next.” he promised with a humorless laugh, picking up bruiser as the dog jumped at his heels. “c’mon, bruiser. these are the nice pants your mom bought me.” emmett sighed, joining elle on the couch with a quick kiss against her temple. “i think that can be arranged. but first, please call off your attack dog?” emmett put bruiser on the ground before taking her cheeks in his hands and giving her a proper kiss hello. “you look gorgeous when your depositing a case. your client is extremely lucky to have such a smart, hardworking and empathetic lawyer on their case. you’re gonna change the world.” he offered in the way of compliments. cheesy, yes, but there was definitely more than a grain of truth to his statements. “was that what you were looking for?”

            “I THOUGHT I HAD seen it all when i got called in for that big scandal back in west hollywood, i love what i do but...sometimes it’s just hard to hear about death and murder all the time.” and it was true, even someone as optimistic and positive as elle woods herself was dimmed out after a long day of hearing gruesome details. a small smile left her lips as she noticed the pants she’d gotten him, and her eyes closed for a moment as he pressed a kiss to her temple, a satisfied sigh slipping from her nose. “bruiser, take your throne.” the small dog whined in submission as he scurried off to the plush dog bed on the floor to give them space, her eyes moving to emmett’s face now with a wide gaze. a pout was on her lips as he gave her a kiss, although it melted away as he showered her with encouragement, instead a gentle expression took it’s place. “yes....thank you, you’re the best.” and she craned her neck forward to steal another kiss, snuggling into his frame with ease, “you always know how to make everything better.”

leading up to any audition , TROY could feel the nerves. did he prepare enough ? was he going to forget the words ? or his monologue ? he always feared he would mess up , do something wrong. ( it never felt as easy as high school … ) however , as soon as he stepped on stage , all his worries fade away. it was like something took over. before he knew it , it was over. he was packing up his stuff when a familiar voice caught his attention. “ gabriella ! ” he laughed , quite literally dropping his stuff , before pulling the girl into a tight embrace.  “ what are you doing here ?? no way you came just to see my silly little audition … ”

               IT ALWAYS FILLED her with pride to see troy doing the things he loved, whether it be basketball or singing or acting, he just radiated such talent that it was always hard to take her eyes off him. and seeing him perform again today, after it being a while, was something truly magical. it even itched a little scratch she had to get back on stage, but that was never her calling, it had always been his. a smile spread wide across her face as she watched him drop his stuff, easily opening her arms for the embrace as she giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck, “i heard you on the phone the other night talking about this audition, i had to come see it...watching you on stage is special. and it’s not a little audition, hush, you know miss darbus would smack you upside the head if she heard you say that.”

              DID TROY KNOW gabriella had snuck in to watch his auditions from the sound booth of this auditorium? no, of course not, and she certainly didn’t pay off whoever worked at this theater with the last of her money from the bakery she picked up shifts at. still, watching him perform again made her feel warm inside, seeing him light up a stage was something she knew she’d never grow tired of. it was so effortless, so natural in him, he was a performer whether it was on a stage or on the court. when people started packing up she crept into the isle to lean against one of the chairs, “wow wildcat, you still have it in you.”

“someone order pizza?” sebastian’s voice rang through the apartment, letting himself into cher’s apartment. he’d never been one to turn his back on someone who needed him. when no one answered him, however, the older hastings started to get a little worried. “hello? marco?” he called, putting the pizza down on the table as his eyes landed on a huddle of blankets on the couch. ahhh…”so, do you wanna talk about it? or do you want me to distract you?” sebastian asked, sitting down in the tiny space on the couch the blonde didn’t occupy, resting a gentle hand on her back.

              SHE HAD BEEN totally stressed out from something silly, but it meant a lot to her, a social media influencer of her stature had a reputation to uphold after all. so here laid cher, curled up under her favorite blankets and watching reruns of say yes to the dress, an empty tin of cookies on the table in front of her couch. she had decided to wallow in the apartment near ucla she rented out instead of in her beverly hills home, so whenever sebastian came by with pizza her head popped up from under her blankets, a pout present on her lips. “i’m totally buggin’, i can’t believe some people had the nerve to post this...” and she shoved her phone towards the boy, a gossip account with a post recently uploaded about her, saying that she was on the fashion no list for a photo someone snapped of her running errands the other morning, “i was in sweats because all my cute stuff was at the cleaners, and they had to find this picture of me? i look awful!!”

                HE HAD GIVEN UP reading this book about ten minutes ago, what did he look like some sort of book worm scholar loser type? no, that was more logan’s lane, it always had been. he was the smart one, winning over the more shy book type of fanbase while james sort of stayed in his box of being the pretty one. so now he was just staring at logan as he read, for the last five minutes, and he hadn’t even noticed. “dude...how are you doing this? why don’t you just watch the movie adaption? plus, save the trees? i did this awesome partnership with audible, and i could probably at least do an audio book without wanting to hurl myself into a wall. oh....or even DO an audio book voice over. i bet that would be wicked, my golden vocals on an audio book? priceless.”

          ADMITTING THERE WAS A problem was never really her strong suit, stomach sour as she stared at the ceiling in the quiet of her nice apartment, memories of the days her and the gang lived together back in new york. but those were different times, twisted in the sense they seemed like happier memories, and there was a looming presence near her in the form of roger davis. crying in front of him felt silly, the two of them never had the best history, but who was she going to call on a downward spiral of a coke binge? certainly not mark, that was for sure. clearing her throat at the acidic burn dripping down her sinuses, she reached for her water only to knock it over, eyes threatening more tears as she sighed, “....i’m sorry, i shouldn’t have asked you over to deal with me....”

         FIGHTS WEREN’T TYPICALLY UNCOMMON for him and spot to get roped into, tonight had been no different, the gang encountering a bit of an issue after leaving a bar. punches were thrown, but whenever the other side brought out a knife and got a good cut on jd’s arm, they scattered. it was a cheap shot, and if anything the boy was more annoyed then hurt as he sat in his apartment’s kitchen area. “it’s not that bad, i’ve had worse.” jd muttered as he watched spot return with some stuff to bandage him up, head falling to the side as he glanced at the gash on his upper arm.
