im in a friendship test call with acquaintances and we're poking around the different encounter dialogue and i am voicing jester and had to va them while live reacting to an optional line of theirs where they call waterbottle "one of those boring traumatized programs" that was fucked up
we continued this yesterday and everytime void shows up we're possessed with the energy of meeting hatsune miku at the peach store. also we plan the next session on wednesday and it made me lament that we wont see vents for a while since she's not present for the whole entire mid game

i hate when i think i can write a short post about fst but it becomes long so it takes longer to fully share my thoughts. does anyone else think about tori and nick being the most autonomous characters in the game while simultaneously offloading their guilt about their actions onto others

i dont doubt that noelle herself is stacked with money but the fact that she offers susie a ton of cash specifically in the weird route and its introduced the whole "doing something crazy and stepping off of the path" element to noelles character, gives me the impression that she stole that from carol
all this room to grow.
its wild how fst already makes a very strong point of shutting down the idea that people are only capable of being abusive because of a lack of "real" love towards their victims with nick and void in act 6 but then act 7 is like. yeah toris past abuse of friendprogram is deeply rooted and absolutely inseparable from her love and care and concern for them like its actually impossible to talk about one without acknowledging the other. this game makes me siiick
FsT obviously has several characters that deal with a lot of internalized bullshit but I also find it interesting how Nick is written as a more personally removed bigot. He genuinely loves and cares about Void and Sparks, and even likes Void on a more personal level, but he still believes Void's personality (read: the way their autism causes them to express themself) and disabilities are something to be fixed, and he dehumanizes both them and Sparks.
Also this one isn't canon to the game but I do think a lot about how the dev had the thought that Nick is cool about aro/ace people while still being aphobic towards loveless people. Which makes sense, he himself doesn't really seem to prioritize romantic/sexual relationships. But he sure as hell cares deeply about platonic and familial ones and thinks love is a virtuous emotion. It's just a good showcase of the games' larger point about how love and care are separate things from respect and moral goodness.

wouldnt it be wild if estranged family doesnt have like major established antagonists and instead its just tori + nick + the scientists haunting the narrative. i would be really unwell about that.
I don't want to set up expectations for myself or anything this is like, just me daydreaming and wildly speculating. But also I'm not just playing with the idea because well they're two of my favorite fst characters.
But also like, the whole thing about how estfam takes place on a seperate planet that was still visited and harmed by the scientists and is inhabited by more programs built by them. When the whole reason the family jumped ship was to get away from that whole environment.
And if the reason for that is to make a point about how the family's baggage will still follow them around even if they physically move (just like how programs throughout the Friendship Labs are still influenced by the scientists actions despite them having been gone for a long time), it'd make sense that it includes the ways they've been impacted by the fst villains. Comet in particular gets anxious about signs of the scientists having been on the planet. Star died at Nick's hands. Cosmos, while not having a directly stated connection to Tori at this point, is a friendprogram. Friendprograms were initially personally trained by Tori and the major characters of this cathegory tend to be directly or indirectly extremely negatively influenced by her.
