Lying about your age to communicate with minors looks like child grooming. Even if that isn’t the intention, it may be perceived that way. I’m 41 and I would never pretend to be 22 in order to befriend pre-teens and teens on Tumblr ( or anywhere for that matter). It’s creepy and odd for all kinds of reasons. I used to be a social worker and this type of behavior from adults disturbs me because it is a common tactic used by online child predators, like THE number one tactic. It’s not right to deceive minors by pretending you are their age in order to communicate with them. It’s an abuse of power.

I dislike the “call out / the DRAG themmmm culture” here on Tumblr but in this instance, I’m really troubled by this recent drama. I’m a mother and again, a former social worker, and I have children who use the internet daily and I would hate for them to be communicating with an adult pretending to be decades younger.

I’m excited. Also probably getting ahead of myself since Seasons doesn’t come out until June 22nd, so I’ll just do TWO. I’m way, way past due for a follower milestone gift. Reblog and like to enter!
