Because of Iceland’s extreme northerly latitude (which lies just below the arctic circle) the northern lights are spectacular phenomenon there. We not only arrived in a snow storm, there was also a  solar storm which, fortunately, made the northern lights particularly great for viewing during our stay. Again, everyone has to witness this island. Go in the winter if you want to see the northern lights. Summer nights are too bright.

Yes, it’s been a long time. I’ve been very busy. No that’s not a great excuse. I was in Iceland a couple of weeks ago. I’ve always wanted to go there. Now that I’ve been there I can’t wait to get back. There isn’t another location I loved visiting more. I can’t recommend strongly enough that everyone visit this amazing island.

The University of Wisconsin Distinguished Lecture Series welcomed Sally Mann last night to the Union Theatre in Madison, WI. Her photography skills are nearly matched with her writing skills, although she may disagree with that. After reading selections from her memoire Hold Still, one could feel a palpable connection in the room as if the audience and speaker were conjuring the same memory. Sally Mann can paint a picture with words almost as well as with light through her camera lens. I feel privileged to have been in the audience.

I know I’ve been away for a while...Well quite a while. But now I’m back so everything is great again. I’m trying to get back to my roots of photography. I’m looking for what made me keep picking up that camera in the first place. I know I’ll find it if I keep looking. So keep looking I must.

March 2015. This is a composite of 3 or 4 images. I forgot already. I didn’t know what we were going to do with these fish after shooting so we bought a fish tank. Now we have six fish, a blue beta named Bruce Lee, the big orange one with the big eyes is named Steve Buscemi and the four small common goldfish are named Goldie Hawn. They have one name because I can't tell them apart.

February 2015. These are moments of disintegration. These are also moments of wicked fun.

February 2015. Look at the mess I made. You really shouldn’t walk in my art room without shoes. I’ve been breaking things for the last couple weeks. It’s cathartic.
