"....I think I'm gonna have to cut you off, sir." Says the bartender, mindful of how much the stranger has already had to drink. He has half a mind to slide the remainder of his drink away from him just for precautionary reasons.

——— ∆ ∕ BEYOND SQUINTED A bit more than he intended to at the audacious man threatening his supply of booze. ( So much for perfect 20/20 with these godforsaken eyes, huh ? Speaking of… ) His gaze flicked above the man’s head – ‘Arata Nanase’ … Boring. Though that thought was definitely just the booze talking. His honey eyes slipped back down to the man’s face. Attractive. He’s unsure if he’d think so while sober, but that was kind of the beauty of alcohol.

“ I’m fine. ” Beyond reassured, slightly to himself, in a tone that sounded surprisingly sober despite how very much he had drank. It was a blessing & a curse, depending on the day – the fact that he was not very human at all & therefore needed an equally inhuman amount of booze to actually get anywhere with the self destruction.

“ If you knew the things I did, you’d join me, ” He snorted, quietly, mostly just to emphasize the self pitying smirk on his lips. “ Or at least let me keep drinking. ”

“ That’s my line, ” he smirks, the notion obvious in the entertained lilt of his voice -- & it was, the very question he had been asking for a while now. What the hell was this person ? As an afterthought -- what did they want with him ?

Beyond’s world was one painted in red. Everywhere he looked dripped blood digits, ruby letters. It was a mortal reminder to the existence of death; the threat loomed above every living person’s head -- his own included, though he couldn’t personally see it of course. Beyond had never known anything different, not for a single day has he seen the world colored in any other shade, so it’s only very natural that when an anomaly appeared, he took immediate notice.

This person -- or rather, this thing -- couldn’t be human; the fact was broadcast by the empty space above their head. & thus Beyond’s suspicions were born one day from his usual convenience store as they had happened to walk in. Since, he’s observed the trend of them becoming a regular around the area -- it’d be very uncharacteristic of a highly trained (un)private detective to not notice that sort of thing anyway. Though they never approached him. He had the feeling they followed him back to his usual hide out; between here, ‘home,’ & the few other places Beyond frequented these days as a poor homeless man.
