Does Irish dance ever just make you feel like..

Oh 2016 how good you were to me, by far the best in my dance career. Although it started out with my 5 months straight of 2nd place, I finally achieved my goal of getting into open🙌🏼. After 5 years in prelim, 2 of which were spent in the bottom 3, 1 with a broken ankle, 1 placing inconsistently, something finally clicked in January 2016. Go back 5 years ago and ask the 14 year old who always was in the bottom 3 if she’d ever make it to open, she would laugh, and certainly everyone else around her would to. Finally after years of determination and never giving up I got my first 1st in April and just coming shy of qualifying for nationals in Florida after months of 2nd place. Although I was disappointed I was still going to Florida for teams so it wasn’t a complete fluke. And to be completely honest, New Orleans is my favorite city so to qualify for Nationals there when I got my 2nd first in June meant a lot more to me. Overall I won 4 times this year with a perfect 300. Leading up to Oireachtas my teachers kept saying this was my year to recall, and I believed it. I came off that stage and knew I gave it my absolute best, and my teachers agreed. When I didn’t get the recall, I wasn’t to shocked because there were only 16 recalls and I had to accept the fact that 13 out of the 16 that placed had all been world qualifiers at some point in the past couple of years. Of course there were tears, but then I remembered why I dance. I look at how far I’ve come and all the lessons I’ve been able to take away from dance. After the Oireachtas I danced at my first open feis coming away with 2nd in my hornpipe and 4th overall. Never in my life did I think I would get to open, never mind place in open! It just goes to show that all the effort you put in day after day really does add up in the end. Could not be more grateful to have had the opportunity to dance at the all Ireland’s this past week 😊

***DANCE COMMUNITY. PLEASE HELP*** My best friends had their dresses, shoes and wigs stolen from their car in VANCOUVER BC CANADA. This is just devastating for the family as I’m sure you can all understand. Please keep an eye/ear out for anything that could lead to these items being found. Please share, especially if you live in the region. Thank you.
