Background
Toes in the sand and sun kissed skin defined the childhood of Anacostia Thames. Her days were spent on the beach, watching mother and father go out to sea to fish. Two siblings would join in the fun. Fairy tales would be spun under the star light, games created and childhood spent.
The Thames family was far from wealthy, but for the children they never knew the difference. That was until childish fancies gave way to longing to attend the academy. Unfortunately that was just another thing the Thames family could not afford. So, days would be spent by a young Ana standing in front of the academy and longing for the day she might be able to attend before having to go help her parents with their work.
That day would come, when Ana's father would come home with the good news and had begged and pleaded for for months and years. At thirteen, she would be be able to attend the academy thanks to an anonymous benefactor who provided a select number of scholarships to the academy.
But at thirteen, not only was she small, but she was well behind her peers at the academy. But while she did not catch up in size, she was able to catch up and even surpass several of the other kids at the academy. Maybe part of that had to do, also, with the fact she'd wrapped one of the best boys at the academy around her little finger. They began dating and they'd train together outside of the academy. Long nights were spent in his back yard, sparring and playing strategies out, sometimes until the sun began to peak over the horizon.
Finally at the age of eighteen, she made the decision to volunteer. She let everyone in the Capital underestimate her. She was small and sweet. No one expected her to win. But she did, killing the boyfriend she had lured along for years, and then picking the others who remained one by one.
Winning was just what she’d imagined it would be. She was catapulted into fame in the Capitol. The Capitol nightlife became her scene, spending more time in the Capitol than in Four. She made friends with sponsors and other victors alike while she spent her nights in the bars or at one party or another. One of those friends who she just so happened to become close to, ended in her becoming pregnant and in the spring of ninety-six, Anacostia welcomed daughter Ria into her little family with Walker Holstein though Walker would decide to keep his part in their daughter’s life a secret, not ready to be a father though he does help with her quite often.
Personality
Ana is overly optimistic and tries to keep things as simple as possible. If you believe something will happen, then according to her it will, so just believe in whatever outcome out want. She can be irresponsible, often flaking out on responsibilities, especially when it comes to mentoring, often in favor of some sponsor-hosted party or another. She's flighty and often moves from one thing to another without cohesion. She can often be described as childish.
