Ok , I was going through 1 Thessalonians 5. I got to verse 21 it puzzled me. "...hold fast that which is good". The puzzle was , what is good? What is good that I need to hold fast to? Then I did a brief search of what the bible described as good. I observed Luke 6: 27-49; good is to love your enemies, to not judge people, to practice God's word. Romans 12:9; good is love in action. 1 Timothy 2:1-3; worship is good. You can't actually take away love from what "good" is. I guess that's why the bible says in psalm 73:1 God is good and 1 John 4:8 God is love. As at the time I was done reading, God made me notice that the "good" in 1 Thessalonians 5:21 can be replaced with Him. "...hold fast that which is God's".

We are been urged continuously to develop love (1 Corinthians 12:31) "the most excellent way to live". The next chapter goes on to express its importance(1 Corinthians 13:1-8). See, The Old Testament had Ten Commandments that latter became tens of thousands of rules and regulations. But this time (John 13:34-35) God is giving us one. To love people, just as He loves them. We are in a "one commandment religion" people. To simply love. Here is the great news (Romans 5:5) we already have the ability to love. We just need to express it. Bless you.

I wonder how many times we all have been held back from doing the right thing by fear. Fear can be a good force; it can protect us from danger, but it can also prevent us from carrying out a task because of the risks involved. I remember an incident that happened a few years ago when I visited Calabar. I had gone to a fast food eatery and on my way out of the place, some street children came begging for money. I must add here quickly that these children had been labeled witches by their family, tortured, and sent away. As I tried to give them some money, the lady who was with me quickly tried to stop me. She told me the ‘child witches’ would harm me for helping them. She screamed at them and constantly muttered prayers to wade off the evil she assumed they carried. I was dumbfounded because she is a very good and religious woman, who also has kids as young as those ‘child witches’. However, she became blind to the suffering of those unfortunate kids, who could have been hers but for grace, because of her fear. Did I help the little kids?
