     “I was looking more for the kind of story you can fall asleep too, but if you wanna tell me one that’ll keep me up, that’s fine too.”  She seemed like she had good stories, better than Liv’s own, anyway. 

    ` i was kidding, liv . ” she wasn’t . but it’s late and SHE HOPES she could read a situation well enough this far in her life . ` HOW ABOUT----you tell me a story ? ” until sleep appears; until exhaustion overwhelms perseverance .

           “ – tell me a story.”

     ` -----THE KIND OF STORY that makes you want to stay up the rest of the night ? ” the kind of story she’s most familiar with unless time allowed for patience and consideration.

“yeah, i’m good. i’m fine.” the bruising on her forehead, her neck and various sections of her torso scream otherwise. she hugs her knees instead of drinking the water in front of her. “whatever they were… vampires they weren’t.”

her initial perusal indicated superficial injuries, her secondary? there is perhaps a semblance of numbness running through the younger, of resignation. she finds herself crouching before situating herself beside. ` yeah? sorry. ” i wasn’t quick enough. ` did it surprise you? that they weren’t vampires. ”  

    lips are pursed into a thin line, brows furrowed, he is not quite sure how to answer her query. his father told him specifically that there’s only ‘pocket watch’ in existence ; that, to create a duplicate for it will be impossible, due to the intricacies of the runes embedded on it. but, Theo is unsure…for anything about this artefact is almost a myth.      ‘ my father said it’s impossible. ‘ thoughts finally spoken out loud. ‘ and I do remember that story – I reckon, it’s most likely stolen by someone. ‘ and this seems to be a more plausible explanation to him…the simplest one of them. ‘ they didn’t find the watch after all, when retrieving the bodies. ‘

      ` let’s keep it simple. ” a perhaps shared smile slips onto her lips since----THERE IS NO WAY any of this could be considered simple. ` is there anything you know that i wouldn’t?” 

    ‘ wait, ‘ delicate brows furrowed, perplexed at the other’s question. what did she mean by that – she hasn’t seen anyone being suspicious as of late. what murder is this person talking about? and whilst her current occupation entails danger, they are often caused by natural occurrences, such as curses backfiring, mishandling of cursed wands, etc…but no actual murder.     ‘ what do you mean, he’s dead? ‘

      confusion and concern and explanation . common enough factors coalescing into one situation. she has long-since become accustomed to the equation; variations hardly throwing her off at this point. her back remains straight, poise seemingly relaxed regardless of the topic at hand. her voice is a practiced softness she’s learned helps since her introductory years: ` it happened three nights ago. can you tell me more about him, ms. chang?”
