1. Have the original picture and render prepared

As you can see, I have the background and render matching with the background (It doesn’t have to be exact, since we’ll blur out the first layer / background anyway)

2. Blur the background

Go to: Filter > Blur > Guassian Blur

I usually go with “Gaussian Blur” since it’s really easy to control. After that, this window should pop up:

Feel free to adjust the Radius to your liking. I usually go with 15 pixels.

3. Add some textures and effects

These are the texture I chose (you can find some of them yourself by googling “Deviantart textures”, since I’m not going to share any). Go to Blending Mode (blue) and change it from Normal to either Overlay or Soft Light while you have the texture layer selected. Right now I only have the render selected to add some FX (double click on the layer to open Layer Style)

Layer 6 has a mask applied to it. I did that to erase some parts that were on the render‘s face, since it didn’t look too good. To do that , have the layer selected and add a mask, then delete the parts by having the mask selected with a brush (make sure it’s on the color black).
