the key to deciphering any gallagher brothers riddle is to understand that one of them always lies (noel) and one of them always tells the truth (liam)—but it’s his truth and he’s delusional

I'm very good at procrastinating for a month, focusing for two minutes on a random Tuesday, and then continuing to procrastinate for the rest of time until the inevitable heat death of the universe
the most relatable reddit comment i’ve ever read
Hey, V! How are ya? I really like your takes and I trust your words about the season a lot! I don't know if you saw, but there's a rumour saying that Armand releases a response to Big Boss, is it true? I particularly think is bullshit from people with an agenda, but I'm not sure...
Not true.
crying at the idea of lestat and armand beefing like kendrick and drake, someone drop the link to armand’s soundcloud i’m begging you 🙏
i love not knowing anything about the vampire chronicles books bc every time they name drop akasha on the show ppl get so excited and i’m just here like 🤩 akasha?? akasha from lestat’s blood??? lfgggggg 💃

this is what they meant when they called this ep the devil’s road. if u even care
THE VAMPIRE LESTAT 3.4 | 3.1
honestly i ship it. lestat commits many crimes but letting fareed go unfucked would be straight up evil
getting so tired of the discourse over what lestat meant by that “ragdoll for sale” line
was he mocking armand’s sexual trauma? maybe! he’s still pretty mad armand killed his daughter. that could certainly drive a person to hit below the belt!
OR was he just calling armand a wishy-washy sell out? maybe! sam reid certainly believes so. and armand was known for dressing in rags during his cult days!
but at the end of the day:
a) lestat haters are going to believe anything that feeds their narrative about lestat being an evil, racist abuser. and lestat apologists are going to file down the worst and most interesting parts of his character until he’s limp as a ragdoll himself. both are annoying.
b) other than sam reid’s opinion, we’re not gonna get any answers. every viewer’s just gonna have to decide for themselves what he meant by that and move on
c) does it matter? these characters are vampires. they do way worse shit than this all the time
no woman should ever have to explain why she doesnt do something to her body.... 'why don't you wear makeup?' 'why don't you shave?' like. thats what i look like. idk what to tell you
What book is Fareed reading?
It’s The Castle of Crossed Destinies by Italo Calvino.
I managed to find the same cover as the one he was reading which I'll put below.
It's a book about a group of travellers who meet in what might be a castle and what might be a tavern after crossing a forest which renders them unable to speak. They attempt to tell each other their stories through a deck of tarot cards and the stories are interpreted through the openly subjective view of the narrator.
It's effectively about how we individually create meaning out of what we see. The travellers cannot talk and the cards can represent so many different things to each person. Then there's the picture that all the cards create together. It's all about personal analysis. Also the very obviously and openly unreliable narrator, who isn’t a liar exactly but can only offer one personal interpretation of the stories being told.
So it’s obviously a commentary on the show itself and, to me, a response to the absolutist interpretations that run rampant in the fanbase. There is no objectivity to anyone’s perspectives in the show, which is what the cast and crew have been saying the whole time, and finding a singular truth is not the point.
Reblogging this again because people keep telling me there’s only one way to interpret the “many interpretations” show. What a boring show that would be.

Chris Helme (The Seahorses frontman) talking about meeting Liam and Noel in the 90s
"I remember the dynamics between Noel and Liam, where Liam was actually really lovely, for what I remember, a really nice lad. And his brother will bullied him, and winding up and doing kinda this coercive control bullshit, which is probably a bit of a trendy buzz word but that's what exactly pretty much what it was."

Lestat: and then Armand appeared out of nowhere and started reading me a gay little notes app apology. He would not shut up about my vibrant personality and beautiful golden locks and so I got bored and I took a blood shower (I had a blood setting installed on my tour bus shower!!!) which is a practical and sane thing to do. I whipped my dick out in front of him and he was sooooo into it. Then I threw my hair into a messy bun and told him to kill himself.
Whoever is listening realising they went bankrupt so they could listen to this shit:
I actually love the Louis and Regina subplot because it really is a continuation of the way Louis has always treated women, as a source of emotional labour that he can throw money at and have them make him feel better. It’s Miss Lily all over again, it’s “paying a whore to sit in a room and talk with him”. Making Claudia was always about Louis’ feelings under the pretence of saving her from the fire. He wants to save Regina from poverty but it’s all to make himself feel better. She sees through him but she’s so broke that she can’t afford to say no

At a time when Netflix is getting roundly criticized for forcing its shows to treat the audience like we have all of two brain cells to rub together, The Vampire Lestat is out here volleying everything from 70s gay references to 1700s Dutch Republic references at the speed of light while saying, "You don't get it? Well, that's a fucking you problem."
And I love that for us.
Capitalism sucks. Unless it's Louis de Point du Lac doing it, then it's funny.
