boyfriend (no boyfriend needed)
I love jeans. They are a staple in most everybody's closet and wardrobe. But recently I have fallen in love again with the boyfriend concept. Loose fit jeans should not be limited to just the male wardrobe, we girls can rock it too. While searching for a pair I actually went and bought men's jeans (yeah in the guys side of the store) that way they were authentic boyfriend jeans, not the kind that girl brands make to seem like it. These are hip riders, they are huge around my waist, but are great worn low and hung on my hipbones. I rolled them at the bottom, and am going to add some rips. They are so comfy. I have to wear these with a tight cropped top because of the silhouette they create on my body (loose bottoms call for a tight top…my rule). But we aren't limited to just pants, jackets can work this way too. I have this great archive Calvin Klein faded jean jacket from the 90's. It's huge, and boxy, and just perfect. I love wearing it with something dressy or casual. It's so versatile. So out with the tight skinny jeans (for now at least ) and in with the loose.
bottoms up
I've been so opposed to shorts this summer for an odd reason. I probably own twelve pairs of chino's that I've compiled to my collection for years, still wearing my hot pink ones from freshman year. The restriction of this thick fabric, however, is that it isn't as comfortable as I would hope for a hot day. As of this moment my mindset is made up with only three options of bottoms to wear (and honestly there is no in-between)
-sundress (I love how a simple shift, or tank dress with little eyelets or lace can be thrown on in the morning and work into the night. Paired with converse, flip flops or even wedges- these little dresses are major)
-skirt (I adore how skirts can vary. The flexibility of how a skirt can be worn is what really draws me in. Floaty fabrics are a must for the summer, no pencils please. Be skater, pleated, maxi-- they work in any capacity, any day.)
-athletic shorts (Stop. They are not sloppy, or only to be worn to workout. I often wear my workout clothes all day before I even go to the gym. Designers have been incorporating these athletic vibes throughout daily wear, so it's become more normcore to wear them all day. And did I add that they are uber comfy? Yeah.)
