Is it possible to AVOID facial hair on T? Some men just have smooth faces and that's what I want, the sensation of stubble gives me sensory overload but I do not want facial hair and waxing is scary.
Some trans men never really get that much facial hair. It depends on your genes. Some cis guys only have to shave 3-4 times a week. Getting an electric razor makes shaving a lot easier as well!
Hey there. Im about to start t and still love at home with my mom. Shes not exactly happy about me being trans and I dont know how to tell her that Im starting. Any ideas on how to break it to her gently
Sorry this reply is so old. LMK how stuff went. Personally I just started T and let my mother deal with the outcome in her own way. Just don’t stop being you, and if you’re feeling unsafe then that’s a whole other discussion.
Hello, I'm a short trans man. I'm about 5'3. I have very bad height dysphoria. I really like this trans woman who is 6'1; she's amazing and we have a lot in common. However, I feel really guilty because the height difference makes me dysphoric, how can I get past this dysphoria?
Honestly shortness dysphoria never really goes away. It’s about finding the small positive things about being a short man. Maybe talk to your crush about her height dysphoria and that might help you with your dysphoria as well!
T tips for trans men
- Going through informed consent is the fastest way to get T (if you’re 18). This doesn’t mean you cant also go to a gender therapist, but the T process is long and arduous through them so.
- Planned Parenthood will respect your nake and pronouns. The only time they use your birth name is on prescriptions if your name isnt legally changed. Theyre also discreet and will work with you on a lot of stuff. You can make appoinyments online, just make sure the one you choose does hrt.
- Buy needles online. I used Healthykin and got 2 years worth of needles (200 needles and 100 syringes) for 23 dollars (less than 15 cents a needle) and they were delivered in 2 days. Make sure the site is reputable of course.
-Try out needle sizes from your pharmacy before you order, though, you many prefer a anywhere from a 22g to a 27g, 1 ½ inch to ½ an inch. Each size changes how fast your shot is and how much you feel it. I tried 25gs and 26gs and liked the 26gs better, but still prefered the 27gs. Your doctor might prescribe a certain size but you can choose to stick to it or not.
- Goodrx will cut your prices for T down so far ohmygod. My $100, 5 month bottle of T? 45 dollars.
- CVS also has a savings card thing that helps with your scrip, idk if it can be used with goodrx though.
- Scared of needles? Gel is an option, patches are sometimes an option (but they have a risk of rashes and spreading by contact so be careful).
- Intermuscular needles are way bigger than SubQ needles. My SubQ needles are a 27 guage, half an inch long. I dont even feel the needle in. Watch some youtube videos and see how each one makes you feel, cuz IM scares the shit outta me. SubQ is just a little shot in my stomach.
- Nicked veins happen. You will bruise, youll bleed a little more than normal. It happens. If it keeps bleeding profusely without stopping, then seek medical assistance.
- Voice changes are usually pretty gradual and people you’re with every day may not notice at first.
- T can get stuck in the needle, so be sure to pull the thing all the way back before changing your drawing needle to your injecting needle.
- Do it fast. The slower you do your shot, the more it hurts.
- You can buy a sharps container online (wish and amazon sell them) or make one out of just about anything thats not flimsy. Mine is a laundry detergent container. One of my friends uses a metal lunchbox. My friends sorta husband uses a milkjug. Just make sure to mark it “Sharps, do not throw away or recycle”.
- Ask your doctor about where to dispose of your needles (if you choose to, yes I know some people keep them). They may say just dispose of them at their office or give you info for a needle disposal place.
- The changes will come. For the first few weeks and sometimes months, you might feel stuck. You might feel like changes will never happen but they will come. You will start passing in public, someone will comment on your voice, youll find a little mustache hair. It just takes time.
- Sometimes, you get your first changes rapidly and then hit a lull, where it feels like the changes have stopped. That’s normal but things are still changing, they’re just less obvious.
- I have a private folder labeled “transition” where I keep all my updates so I can look back and be like “yeah, thats definitely changed”
- If your period doesnt go away after several months, go back to your doctor and talk to them. They may choose to raise your dose.
- Excersize before your start if you can. When you start, you’ll be able to gain muscle easier and it just feels amazing.
- T IS NOT A WEIGHT LOSS DRUG. If anything, you might get heavier because muscle mass is heavy. Your apetite might also spike, which can cause weight gain.
- If you start until your voice starts dropping and then stop, your voice will permanently sound like a pubescent boy and its not cute. It will be crackly and hard to sing, and just. That’s why i dont reccomend using it if you want androgyny.
- Your voice can keep dropping for years. Literally.
- Voice pitch analyser will tell you what your pitch is, whether its male or female sounding. It makes a chart so you can track your progress.
- Some changes take a LONG time. Your waist takes time to lose its curves, your face takes a long time to change, facial hair may take a long time. Be patient.
- Sometimes on T, you still get misgendered. It’s one of those things, it doesnt even necessarily mean you’re not passing.
(Feel free to add on)
- Take care of your skin on T. Stop using bar soap or 2 in 1 face/body wash on your face, they’re generally too harsh. Start using a gentle face wash in the evenings and maybe the mornings if necessary. Benzoyl peroxide is extremely effective (2.5% works as well as 10% but with fewer side effects). Salicylic acid is also very good for the face and body. No matter how oily your skin is, moisturize (especially if you’re using any actives). A lot of people have dehydrated skin, which tends to be oily and acne-prone. Everyone needs a good moisturizer to keep the skin healthy. It’s not “girly” to take care of your skin.
- IM is definitely intimidating, but it’s really not as bad as it sounds. I prefer it because sub-q tends to cause itchiness and stuff. I won’t say one is better than the other, it’s personal preference.
- It will take at least 5 years of T for all of the effects to be “done”. It’s most dramatic in the first 2-ish years though. Think about it- how long does it take for a cis boy to finish puberty? 5+ years?
- You might get taller on T but don’t count on it. People who start T as minors generally grow maybe an inch. That said, I started T at 17 and 5′3″ and I was measured again 18 months on T and I was 5′6″. It’s unpredictable.
- I won’t say I don’t recommend going on T for androgyny because of the voice thing, but it’s definitely something that a person wanting to do that should be aware of.

Hi, so I only have dysphoria when I think about gender consciously, if it’s brought up and I take time and think on it. Otherwise gender doesn’t bother me, is this normal? I feel fake because even though the dysphoria hurts so much it just doesn’t come around super often
That doesn't make you fake! Everyone has varying levels of dysphoria. Often times thinking about one thing very intensely is going to stress you out extra! Your identity is valid!
(NSFW) so before I came out as trans I was totally into girls 100% wasn’t sure abt sex bc I was young. Been out for a good couple of years now and still like girls but I don’t feel like I could have sex with one bc of dysphoria, however I would have sex with a guy. As it stands I think the dysphoria would stop me from most sexual encounters but I was wondering if that is weird? I haven’t heard of it in other transguys.
Not really weird at all. Dysphoria is more intense for some people. I usually can't even take off my binder with partner. It's really all about communication, if you're very forward with your sexual partner about what upsets you then sex can be really enjoyable! It's finding what works for you!
So recently I've been questioning whether or not I'm a transman, I don't know if I feel dysphoria. I know I have a discomfort for my body and when my femininity comes out I feel kind of uncertain about it. When I put on a dress I start to cry and my chest hurts and I can't stop and the idea of living as a girl gives the same reaction. Am I really a man?
Chances are you probably are. My friend who is a transman once put it this way: "cis people don't question their gender all the time, trans people do"
i want to go on T one day, but i'm worried about the way it might affect my mental/emotional wellbeing. i've heard people say that it makes them want to cry less, it makes them more irritable, and similar things. i'm already highly irritable and easily angered and stuff, so would HRT be a bad idea for me?
It definitely makes you cry a lot less! I personally was always a really angry person so it didn't change my aggression levels. But I know that with some really calm pre-T trans guys they can get super angry. One thing a lot of prescribers recommended is to start with a tiny low dosage and go up every week. This way you are still taking testosterone but the changes will take slightly longer in the beginning but your body has more time to adjust to the mental changes. If that is something you think you would benefit from then it's something to talk about with whoever is going to prescribe your T in the future! Hope this helps!
Hi!! Has the winner of the giveaway been picked?

I just watched 3 videos from uppercaseCHASE1 (which I love!) about hormone blockers and two old ones about not doing hysto and now I'm having dysphoria. I want hysto, a lot, but I'm still scared I shouldn't do it. The bleeding is a big trigger, but like him, I want to keep those eggs? Just in case? But don't have the money to freeze em. So now I'm all confused and shaking a bit from the thought of bleeding coming back if I don't do it..! I feel so sick right now... and disgusting...!
I'm honestly not sure about the science of getting a hysto or not. But from what I know, you don't need a hysto and it's very unlikely that bleeding will start again once on T unless your T levels are REALLY low. Even when I don't do my shot for 1-2 weeks and my T level is lower, it's still not in the range needed for an egg to release so there is no period. Spotting can sometimes occur but again it really depends person to person. If you're still super struggling with it I can ask my mom who is a doctor about pros of hystos or not for trans men.
I kind of feel like I'm never going to be able to transition and be comfortable about it. My family doesn't seem to be okay with me, and it doesn't really look like they will be. I'll feel better when I'm older and out of their care, but I will still want to be able to spend time with my family when I'm older, and idk if they'll ever be okay with that.
Give them some time. If you're already out to them then it honestly just takes time. I'm not really out to my parents but have been on T for over a year now so low voice and sideburns and I bind so I usually get called "he" and "sir" when I'm out with my family. I only see my family about once a month and that's a healthy amount for both sides. No matter what you are family maybe a little less so in the future but that happens as kids grow up and have their own lives, trans or not.
I really need some advice. My partner has recently come out as ftm trans & I’m being supportive. I’ve helped him pick clothes and make medical appointments to start to work on getting T. I am being careful about pronouns too. The issue is internal for me since I identify as a lesbian and have for some time now and the sudden coming out has left me distressed about my identity and I’m feeling pressure from him that he wants everything to remain the same when it truly won’t be. Advice?
Sexuality is very fluid so you can still proudly identify as a lesbian and date a trans man or even a man. Sometimes we fall in love with the person not the gender. I always say that I'm capable of falling in love with anyone and figuring out how that means for my identity and sex life later. I identify as gay to mean men and include trans men in that as well because I see them as men but I also have loved women as well.
I feel terrible right now. One of my friends just got T and I'm supposed to be happy for him but I'm so upset that I left the chat with him. Every time he talk about it I feel absolutely horrible because I can't get T until I'm 18 and it's just a slap to the face an a reminder that I can't have what I need. -Gray
It's totally fine to feel jealous. I came out when I was 14 and I had a whole group of friends who came out 2-5 years after I did and every single one of them got T before I did because they had supportive parents or were older than me. A lot of being trans means being patient. You'll get there too. I know it's hard now but one day you'll look back on your struggle and be proud of yourself for having the patience to wait, and it helps you develop it for other things in life as well.

How to have a binder without your parents knowing:
Pick the binder you want online, add it to the website’s shopping cart and start to check out until you find how much it costs with shipping and tax.
Save up enough money to buy the binder. Make sure you have a few dollars extra, to buy the card itself and just incase.
Go into a store and buy a prepaid VISA card. They have them at lots of stores, even CVS. (You can also ask a friend to do this if you can’t get to a store on your own)
Buy the binder online. If you don’t have access to a computer at home, use one at the library.
Clear your internet history if you’re at home. Make sure the invoice is sent to an email that only you have access to.
Ship it to a consenting friend’s house or an accepting relative, if you have one. Or ship it to your own house and say you bought a present for someone. You may have to go to a store in person and buy a physical present to then gift to cover up that it wasn’t in the package.
Hide it when you get it.
Handwash it when it gets dirty. Or start doing your laundry yourself.
Bring it in a bag with you to change into it when you’re out of the house.
(Or ask a friend with a debit/credit/gift card to buy you a binder if you give them the cash.)
Hey, I’m female to Male, and I’ve been dating a guy for like 2 years. He’s really great and supportive, but I’m always scared if throw loads of stuff at him like dysforia, then I’ll become a burden.. I feel like this will my friends too, because I’m not great at talking about things.. I was wondering if you had any advice about opening up to people about being bullied and dysforia.. because I’m pretty lost. Thank you x
Honestly just making sure that they know this is important to you and the balance between talking about it and other things needs to be there. I often complained way to much about my dysphoria and sometimes people would get irritated because I always talked about it but I was never doing anything to combat it.
