MBFW asks, you say? 😈
How in the FUCK does Clarke decide it’s a good idea to marry Finn?
MBFW Clarke has such a close relationship with her parents. Her parents would NEVER like a douchebag like Finn… let alone support a MARRIAGE with him. (Especially when they KNOW Lexa is Clarke’s goddamn SOULMATE.)
ILY and this is purely for science 😈
No listen, ok
Clarke.... Clarke is not making good life choices right now. What you and Lexa are seeing is not Clarke Griffin, a well put together and mentally/emotionally sound woman. This is actually Klork Grimmin, a very intense little bundle of feelings and rage and resentment that has compartmentalized everything she's feeling into a teeeny tiny little box the size of postage stamp, but it is also actually a surprise ticking time-bomb waiting to go off.
That bomb, will be going off.
But it's also within that compartmentalizing that she has made this Choice and very much talked herself into believing that this is fine. It's not, but, for right now, she is all smiles and twitching eye and very much committed to this life path.
As for her parents, of course they don't really care for Finn, but to be fair! They barely know him 😬 they've only had about a month's worth of time more than Lexa to comprehend what the hell is going on. Abby is doing her best to be supportive because, well, it's Clarke and Clarke is saying repeatedly that she's very sure and Everything's Fine and as her mother... what else is she gonna do? Clarke's nealy 30, it's not like she can ground her (despite toying with the idea the night Clarke made the announcement that she was engaged). She's spent 9 years watching her daughter just kinda... float. Float through life, romantically speaking. Never putting down stakes with anyone. Never committing and shoring herself up to anyone. Other than... well. And so, if this is what Clarke really wants... she has to be supportive. Right?
Jake. Jake is less enthusiastic in his support. He still supports her! ... mostly, but also his first reaction after Clarke left that night was, "We should call Lexa, right? Lexa will fix this? Lexa can talk sense into her." But Abby shot that idea down (while still internally weighing the pros and cons of testing out trying to tell Clarke she was grounded and seeing how that went) considering how Clarke reacted when they'd initially just blankly stared at her, and then softly asked what Lexa thought about this... joyous news...
*eye twitching, tight smile in place* "Well, Mom, Lexa's not here or answering my calls right now so I'll let you know when I actually get ahold of her."
In the end, both decided they had to more or less throw their hands up and accept it because what other choice did they have? Refuse to be involved? Have their only daughter get married in a courthouse? No.
So.
Here they are.
Fake smiles pastered on.
Jake will eventually make his feelings known in his own way tho. That's a scene between him and Lexa I think you guys will like because he's just oh so very 'Dad' energy to Lexa despite *gestures* everything
