stop me if this is just way off-base but i think people overestimate the extent to which women actually choose heterosexuality. men don’t ask you to opt in, they ascribe it to you by default. it becomes a passion in the true sense of the word—something that happens to you, not something you do. so for lesbians and bisexual women, not only are you declaring a type of attraction that is not supposed to exist, you are declaring attraction, period, and that’s partly why men react so violently to your being. you are asserting i think and i desire, but those statements were never supposed to be accessible to you.

I literally did not know that women were CAPABLE of being attracted to each other until I was 15 I genuinely thought men and women had to be together and it was awful

Nonbinary lesbians don’t have to prove their identity to you. They don’t have to let you misgender them. They don’t have to go by she/her or be super feminine. Their gender expression and their gender isn’t your business at all.
