Scena Illustrata was a popular Italian cultural and educational magazine, founded in Florence in 1884 by Pilade Pollazzi (1852â1940). Originally launched as a biweekly publication covering literature, art, theatre, current affairs, and sports, it emerged following the closure of Corriere di Firenze (1865â1884) and the theatrical publication Carlo Goldoni.
For more than a century, Scena Illustrata documented the evolution of Italian society and 20th-century culture. Richly illustrated with engravings and photographs, it featured reports from Italy and across Europe while paying close attention to social change, technological progress, and emerging artistic avant-garde movements.
