Cats and Misogyny (an unhinged rant)
This is an actual issue. This is an actual thing that happens.
I don't just mean when men say shit like "you're gonna grow old with only cats" "you're a crazy cat lady" "you'll die alone and be eaten by your cats"(if I die, I don't mind if my girls take a few nibbles if it means they survive but there's a lot of psychological damage that would cause them, which is a topic for another day).
No, I'm talking about how cats are victims of misogyny.
As some who follow me might know, I work with animals. Not hands-on all the time, but I'm around them. I have always had a passion for animals(especially cats). If I could work solely with felines only, I would in a heartbeat.
And let me tell you: the amount of misogyny I see around female cats is ridiculous.
"Female cats aren't as cuddly!"
"You can't have more than one girl, they're bitches!"
"Female cats are naturally bitchy!"
"Boys are so much more affectionate!"
"I have a cat and she's a bitch but that's just because she's a girl!"
Shut the fuckkkkkkkkkkk up. I never hear these comments about female dogs and here's the kicker: how your cat behaves is directly related to how you treat them.
If I start acting like an asshole to and around my cat, she's going to return the energy. My girls are sweet, dainty, cuddly... because I'm sweet and cuddly to them. If I start sassing either of them, they sass me back.
Your cat is a bitch because you display similar behaviour. It has nothing to do with your cat being female. If you had a boy, he'd pick up on the behaviour too. Cats like to learn from us. They like to learn our routines, they like to learn our habits and our body language. Their behaviour has nothing to do with gender.
