Welcome! You can call me Flower. I am a relatively new writer (fanfic wise). This is my side blog so replies/follows will come from dulcelibra. I write basically anything. Fluff, angst etc. So far the fandoms Iâve written for are: Top Gun Maverick, Outer Range, and House of the Dragon. I am open writing for other fandoms so just let me know if you have any request. My inbox is always open. I try to upload or post regularly, even if it is just posting ideas for feedback. That being said, I would appreciate patience. Also I do have works that are ambiguous readers but as a black woman is important for me to represent that in my writing. Please like, reblog, and follow if you see anything you like đŤśđ˝đŤśđ˝

Okay so Dorne is really diverse in my head (like Central Asia, North Africa, India, Pakistan, and multiple middle eastern countries) so Iâm just gonna focus on the Martells, who I see as mostly Indian and Saudi Arabian
Again, a very diverse looking family, but still have defining attributes. Their skin is usually warm-toned and ranges from lightly tanned to a dark brown. They tend to have hawk-like, prominent noses (my personal favorite kind of nose), thick black hair, and faces that are on the slimmer/more angular side. All attributes of their Rhoynar ancestors (or evolution take ur pick)
And honestly the only definite ideas I have for the Tyrells is that they have rounder and softer shaped faces, and some type of curly hair. Wider, gentle features too like big round eyes or a wide nose bridge or full lips. Like tell me youâre a medieval serf and you see the roundest cheeks on a doe-eyed, curly haired Tyrell and you donât think you just saw the Maiden in the flesh
Fic research will have you doing dumb shit like looking up how does one get into the funeral business and do you need a degree in anything to professionally embalm someone

It sucks to say but I was preemptively waiting for the fanbase to get weird the moment I saw Tanzyn was casted as Tanselle. Frankly because once a female character becomes racialized (letâs not even get into the weird race science/casual bigotry the asoiaf fanbase likes to get into especially when it comes to discussing places like Dorne) they fall into two camps. Either they are almost universally hated. Mostly for reasons either completely made up by said fanbase or for traits/actions a different character would be praised or coddle for - which could be said for a lot of characters but anti-blackness uniquely plagues basically everything.
They can be hated or they can fall into camp two where black women, through a different type of insidious misogynior, are seen as so invincible, their needs gets diminished or forgotten all together. The classic âsheâs so strong and competent and independent, she doesnât need [insert thing that other female characters get]â. Or the classic âI want her for myself sheâs too good for himâ⌠while ignoring her presence.
Itâs clear that Dunk jumps in to save Tanselle because yes it is supposed to be an instance of the reader/viewer seeing how much of a true knight he is. Protecting the innocent and all that. But hello he is smitten with her! Egg couldâve helped in other ways; he knew to get someone who could presumably take on his brother AND someone who cared for the person being victimized. Very wild to see people act like Tanselle is not important to him or his journey.
It just gets very old watching people diminish black womenâs story and work within a show or movie⌠and more often than not to push whatever mlm ship they have on the brain.
the pitt loves putting woc through horrors all in the name of robbyâs âgrowthâ and then kicking them off the show once theyâve served that purpose
Honestly just want all my women of color to know that if youâre a woman of color, and youâre in your 20s, this is such an interesting time to be in⌠not only are you fighting expectations society imposed on women as a whole, but you are also battling with expectations that might have been instilled in you from your family. This is doubly true for children of immigrants. Like you will be fighting to actualize yourself against many, many groups of people who will try to staunchly tell you how it should be. And thatâs why itâs so important to have a very secure sense of self. Like itâs important to know whatâs in your heart of hearts. Otherwise it will be so easy to cling on to these expectations, even if you donât consciously realize youâre doing it!!

Iâm really trying to fill the blank space for Kieraâs life between 209 AC (when Valarr died) and 222 AC (when Vaella is born).
Thatâs 13 years of what? It doesnât sound like she immediately married Daeron after losing Valarr so did she just wait it out in Kingâs Landing? I canât see her going back to Tyrosh and then agreeing to come back to Westeros. It kind of sounds like Daeron and her only marry after/because Maekar becomes king. Then Vaella is born only a year after Daeron is now Maekarâs heir. Did they just choose Kiera as a like sorry you didnât get to be queen the first time do-over?
Iâd like to believe this is for some reason other than the sometimes very⌠weird (to put it nicely) way grrm can write about women. But Kiera, imo, unfortunately falls into the barely named and or actually nameless feted mother role he assigns to some.
Anyway my Kiera headcannons:
- Kiera is a rich girl with a Tyroshi father and braavosi mother.
- In modern terms, her family is very new money (gag I hate those terms lmao). But they want some real notoriety and what better way than their daughter becoming queen of the Seven Kingdoms. The Targs are like ok bet we can have a tie to Tyrosh after Aegon R flees to the Free Cities and possibly a tie to the Iron Bank.
- Kiera actually didnât mind the arrangement in the beginning. As much as the reluctant king/queen trope is cute, I adore the idea of both Valarr and Kiera actually wanting those roles. Valarr because duh his family legacy and he sees being king as a way to seperate himself as his own person. And Kiera because she sees it as grasping at (albeit limited) power. I think her ability to never get that would be a bit harrowing. Sheâd realize how she was essentially sold and bought with no ârewardâ (a trap bc there is no reward either way).
- Kiera and Valarr had a good relationship. It was not perfect by any means. I do think the stillbirths and his parents passing took a toll and by that point Valarr falls sick. But it certainly ranks towards the bottom of the Targ nightmare marriage list so yay.
- Not to be toooo #nasty on main but they def fucked before they got married. Kiera came to Kingâs Landing months before they actually married (which was a whole lavish event). They do a good job being chaste⌠till they donât. It was lust at first sight.
- I think the issues conceiving for Kiera and Valarr was probably Valarr. I know people bring up Bloodraven and yall can believe that but it gives off the same impression as people who insists the maesters were killing Aemma and Viserys kids. Like maybe stop impregnating your young wife? Also possibly Baelor and Jena wanted more kids but couldnât. But thatâs another convo/theory for another day.
- I want to dive into this through writing but ugh I bet sheâd have the most interesting relationship with the women of the family. How little we get of Jena is a mindfuck to me. She can be characterized in so many different ways. Iâd like to think she wouldâve been far more protective over Matarys and judgmental over who he married vs Valarr tbh. If anything, Baelor would be the most #boydad about Valarr, which would probably annoy tf out of kiera in the beginning đ.
- Aelinor and Alys wouldâve taken pity on her post Valarr dying, especially Aelinor who longed for children. I think they are the reason Kiera maybe stays in Kingâs Landing till she marries Daeron. Also I think theyâd want to be involved as a power play. Aelinor wouldâve been queen consort by this point.
- the maekarlings (and subsequently Maekar) are weird to various degrees about her. Aemon and Egg would probably be the most normal towards her.
Daeron is sort of obvious. I am a staunch he dreams about her before they marry believer. But the gag is, he never really sees Valarrâs death coming. So heâs sort of just tormented about the fact he sees his cousinâs wife in his dreams. Even if she never voices any displeasure, he compares what she had with Valarr. They have a lot of ups and downs before settling into something not quite loving but not quite awful, especially after Vaella is born.
Aerion is just⌠like that in general so thereâs no way heâs normal about his âperfectâ cousin getting married and living happily. Likely makes some nasty comments about the whole lack of child thing (donât worry he gets smacked upside the head for it).
Daella and Rhae would appreciate having another woman post Dyanna. But itâs also sort of off in the sense the lines between sister, mother, cousin, confidant have blurred by that point.
Speaking of lines being blurred⌠Maekar⌠oh boy. The brief time period between Baelorâs death and Valarr getting sick was rough. Maekar feels so much anguish towards Valarr. I imagine he wouldâve been called to Kingâs Landing post the tourney to explain to daddy dearest wtf happened. The Red Keep was⌠icy. Valarr feels a lot of anger towards that side of the family - blaming Aerion, Maekar and honestly Egg too for the events. If Valarr survived the sickness, I think he never wouldâve fully forgiven his uncle. Though he knows his father wouldâve never wanted that. But this is the universe where he doesnât :( so some of the guilt Maekar feels does transfer to Kiera when Valarr dies. Again, itâs that weird sort of relationship that encompasses multiple things. She becomes a daughter, is a ghost of what could have been, and one of the womenâ˘ď¸ of the household. The woman of his family for some time. The idea of him playing a part in who Daeron marries and choosing Kiera⌠he as a parent who clearly sees his children (namely the boys) as reflections of himself. If she was good enough for Baelorâs boy, she is good enough for hi- I mean Daeron.
And do you, Elizabeth Henshaw, take this man to be your lawful husband, to love and cherish in death as you did in life? I do.
MARSHA THOMASON as Sara Evers in THE HAUNTED MANSION (2003)
And do you, Evelyn Alexander, take the master to love, honor, serve, and obey for all the days of your eternal life? Yes.
NATHALIE EMMANUEL as Evie Jackson in THE INVITATION (2022)
The asoiaf fanbase is soooo interesting, because one day youâll read some really insightful (and sometimes even more nuance than the actual material itself) analysis about the series. Then the next day, youâll log onto twitter and see someone say Targaryens are âgenetically designed to crave their relatives and would not exist without itâ⌠and thatâs just another Saturday!
